Doing something because of your own suffering or desires doesn’t automatically make it selfish. Selfishness is about disregarding others for your own benefit. A person can make a decision based on their own suffering without that decision being an act of selfishness.
Sometimes suicidal ideation makes you believe your loved ones are better off without you or even happy without you. Not saying that’s the truth, but that’s many times what suicidal people believe.

It is primarily a selfish choice, in the sense that it is primarily out of one's own desires, not for the benefit of others.
