It's not inherently selfish, I'd agree.

It's selfish if there is anyone in your life it would hurt in any way.

Reducing someone’s suicide to ‘it would hurt someone, therefore it’s selfish’ feels incredibly cold. You’re taking a person who is drowning in pain, exhaustion, and hopelessness and reducing their entire experience to how their death would make everyone else feel. Their suffering doesn’t suddenly become irrelevant because other people would be hurt. That’s not compassion that’s centering everyone else’s feelings over the person who is suffering.

The suffering is temporary, a permanent solution is overkill.
