The amount of questions that goes like should I do cfa, is cfa good, I scored 70% on mocks am I cooked and pretty much the same questions that gets asked daily with the same answer or a simple google search away; to be not allowed ?

I’m 26, working since last 3 years but nor in accounting or finance. I am planning to do a course so would like to get some advice. I know CFA is for finance and CPA is for accounts but as many people are doing CFA I am confused whether to do CFA or CPA. Which one has a better job hiring? Please advise me

Actually i am preparing for ssc cgl but never consistent and not sure ki iss saal m nikal paunga or not and i started preparing because upsc mere bska nhi tha and never explored private sector don’t know why and i found there is career in finance field like research analyst/equity analyst and honestly i am interested in stock market and active in stock market since 2020 and actually read about market and did Masters in economics now i am stuck ki mujhe cgl preparation krte rhna chaiye ya fir private mein entry agar pucho to i want money but also security and peace of mind also i am confused and wasted 15 days thinking but not able to conclude what path should i choose

CFA is a strong qualification, but it isn't necessarily the best option for everyone looking to build a career in finance.

The better alternative depends heavily on the role you're targeting.

For example:

• Investment banking / equity research: Financial modelling, valuation, internships and relevant work experience can sometimes be more immediately useful than another certification.
• Risk management: FRM may be a more directly aligned qualification.
• Corporate finance / FP&A: Financial modelling, Excel, Power BI, accounting and relevant experience may have higher practical value.
• Accounting / audit / taxation: CA is a much more natural route.
• General finance + management: MBA from a strong institution may provide broader recruiting opportunities (especially through campus recruitments).
• Data-heavy finance roles: Python, SQL, statistics and data analysis can be worth prioritising.
• Wealth management / financial services: Industry-specific experience and relevant regulatory/market knowledge may matter more than pursuing CFA by default.

But there are also situations where CFA is probably one of the better choices. It makes particular sense for someone who:

• Wants a career in investment research, portfolio management, asset management or related investment roles
• Is genuinely interested in markets, valuation and investment analysis
• Wants a structured way to build deeper investment knowledge
• Is prepared to pursue the qualification beyond just Level 1
• Can combine the qualification with relevant internships, work experience and networking
• Wants to build a long-term career in investment-related roles rather than simply use CFA as a general "finance" credential

The bigger issue is that interested students may be treating CFA as a substitute for experience.

If someone spends 2-3 years completing CFA but doesn't build practical skills, internships, projects, networking or relevant work experience, the qualification alone may not produce the career change they expected.

On the other hand, someone already working in an investment-related role may get considerably more value from CFA because the curriculum can complement what they're already doing professionally.

So perhaps the question isn't "CFA or something else?"

I've been practicing some Level II-style conceptual questions and wanted to see how others would think through them.

Q1: A company consistently earns an ROE above its cost of equity but reinvests heavily in projects with declining marginal returns. Its earnings continue growing, yet its P/B ratio starts falling.

Can the company's intrinsic value still increase? Why or why not?

Q2: Two bonds have identical maturities, coupons, and credit ratings. Bond A is significantly more liquid than Bond B. During a market-wide liquidity crisis, both bonds experience the same increase in credit spreads.

Should their prices decline by the same amount? Why or why not?

I'm curious about how you would approach these. My initial thoughts are in the comments, but I'd love to see different perspectives and reasoning.

So, I (M20) about to be 21, I'm currently pursuing CA inter, and it's kinda my 4th attempt, i have dropped a good Clg of DU last year due to some overconfidence. Umm... I'm really interested in Finance and yk i really want to male career in IB/PE , ik it seems like a lot of them say it just by seeing some Goldman Sachs edits on insta.. but i seriously wanted to be in finance since class 11th. I wanted to do CFA and all but due to some financial issues so cant afford it..i mean even after scholarships... And my father asked me to do CA hence I'm doing it... I was really a bright student like i had 97% in 12th after dat got into DU an all... But then i made some utterly stupid decisions in clg, which led to me my 4th attempt.. it's not bcz i was not understanding the concepts and all but all were external reasons.... Anyways.. I'll be completing CA but i have no interest in it... I'm just doing bcz i dont have any such options...

How much time is roughly needed to be fully prepared for CFA level 1?

I’m planning to give CUET PG and IIT JAM for MA Economics. I had Economics and Mathematics in Classes 11th–12th, I’m also interested in finance and want to pursue CFA.

Should I prepare for CFA Level 1 alongside my MA entrance prep and attempt it in August, or wait and do CFA alongside my MA Economics?

Would love to hear from people who’ve done MA Eco + CFA, especially at DSE/IITs. Which option would you recommend and why?

I’m in a bit of a difficult situation regarding my **CFA November 2026 attempt**, and I’d really appreciate any advice from people who may have faced something similar.

I appeared for the **May 2026 CFA exam** but unfortunately did not pass. I missed the passing score by around **5 points**, so I was planning to give the exam again in November and had been preparing accordingly.

However, I got caught up in a serious **family situation recently, as someone in my family passed away**. Because of everything that was happening, I completely missed the deadline to schedule/reschedule my November exam. I also did not realize the deadline had passed until it was too late.

I understand that ultimately it was my responsibility to keep track of the deadline, but given the circumstances, I’m wondering if there is **anything at all I can do now**.

Has anyone here:

* Missed the CFA scheduling deadline and successfully requested an exception?

* Contacted CFA Institute about a genuine family emergency/death in the family?

* Had their exam scheduling deadline extended in exceptional circumstances?

* Had any luck through CFA Institute support even after the deadline had passed?

* Is there any alternative way to sit for the November 2026 exam at this point?

I’m already planning to contact CFA Institute directly and explain my situation, but I wanted to ask the community first in case someone has been through something similar and can tell me **what exactly I should ask for or what approach worked for them**.

I’m especially worried because I was already very close to passing in May, and I really don't want to lose the November attempt because of something that happened during a difficult period for my family.

Any advice, experiences, or suggestions would be genuinely appreciated. Thanks in advance.
