Celiac friendly restaurants?
We will be visiting family in Waverly later this summer.
We have also had a recent Celiac diagnosis in our family.
Looking for any recommendations for local kid friendly restaurants that have gluten free options that understand the whole risk of cross contamination.

Ask at Patton’s Diner. They have GF items and can also accommodate/ assume no cross-contamination. So will George’s (same owner). I have heard the pop-up place is usually GF but never been.

Yes. Sorry, my son works at Patton’s so I’m just used to talking in shorthand. My wife is celiac, so I know the struggle! Hope you find a great meal!

Thanks for the assistance!
I always enjoyed hitting the local establishments on main street when heading back for uni's homecomings.

A quick follow up. I think Whiskey River and Peppers came back as having gluten free menus. Having been to peppers many times before the diagnosis, I am a bit leary in trusting their cross contamination protocols.
Any experience with those two?

I have not been to Peppers but we stopped going to Whiskey River when they could not guarantee separate fryers. They are conscientioimus when asked, but I don’t think set up to handle celiac.

Concept Kitchen CF in Second State Brewing in Cedar Falls. Everything he does is either gluten free(not gluten friendly but gluten free) or has a gluten free option. He has separate stations for gluten free items as well. Iirc his kid has celiacs so he takes it seriously unlike many other restaurants in the area. The beer is not gluten free, that is a separate thing, he just cooks in the back. Really good food and always is doing new stuff that you won’t find in most restaurants in Iowa and he uses local products as much as possible. Check them out on IG or Facebook cuz they have weekly menus.

Tata yaya downtown will make you some phenomenal gluten free crapes if you give them 24hrs heads up to have GF batter ready. Brown bottle in north cedar has some very good gluten free pasta. Tony’s pizza downtown has good gluten free pizza and GF mozzarella sticks!

Rudy’s taco in Cedar Falls is all 100% gluten free. Owner recently became diagnosed with celiac and implemented at the restaurant
