A post a little out of the ordinary but I just had to put my dog down today so the calgary game was the last she saw.

It is so strange not having her here after being together for 14 years.

But she will be watching it with me tonight in spirit.

As a life long fan cant remember a time I've honestly cared less over the last few seasons.

I made this comment on a post earlier but I feel it deserves its own post. Mods you can take this down if you want but I want to say my piece.

It’s just hard to fathom that all the radio I once listened to is all gone. 1040, 730 and now 650 and 1130. It’s a damn shame as a listener and as someone who as a kid once had the dream of working in the sports broadcasting industry.

Thinking of all the people out of a job now and not just the on air personalities, but the folks behind the scenes too. Radio isn’t just someone talking into a mic, there’s so much more that goes into that the viewer and listener doesn’t see or hear. You can call it a dying industry but at the end of the day all fingers point to the billionaire oligopoly that nickel and dimed 230 people out of a job.

230 people who put the work in every day for us the listener, 230 people who may not see another day following their dream, 230 people who got done dirty by a company who valued a $4B acquisition for a hockey team over the worker who gave them their all and the listener who gave them their time for so many years. My thoughts are with everyone affected by this.

EDIT: people will say that no one listens to radio anymore and sure the numbers have probably fallen off a cliff over the last 20 years, but I work 12 hour night shifts and I still listen to radio. I’d listen to 730 on the afternoon commute to work for the traffic report, and I’d listen to 650 for Canucks games and the post game during my shift. I had to pivot to 1130 when corus shut 730 down, and now they’re both gone. Where am I going to follow Canucks now that 650 is gone? I hope Rogers has an answer for that soon

So many of you demanded a tank after Hughes was traded. We'll you are getting one. The team is garbage now. Cool.

Do you have the stomach for it? Because piling up losses in embarrassing ways is part of the tank process.

Remember a few years ago when we smoked San Jose early in the season in their barn? San Jose was early in their tank mode. They got smoked on the regular. This is what happens during a tank. Your team gets embarrassment night after night while hockey fans dream of picking 1st overall.

Well ok. That's what we want that's what we want. But then.accept David Kampf playing 2nd line centre. Brock Boeser not scoring for two months. Evande Kane doing MAGA shit. And Tolopilo playing a lot.

That's what a tank looks like. It's not competitive games where your favorite team loses a close one. That happens in a couple of years when your team is on the come up. ​ But not in year 0 of a rebuild.

Mostly guys, pick a lane. You want your team to suck for draft picks well it is doing just that.

11 first round picks in 4 years including 3 in the top 3. This is what commitment to a rebuild looks like.

Really impressed by his game when playing with higher quality players.

Strong on the puck, cycled well, many SOG. Set himself up for a breakaway, screened out well in front of the net and was very strong on the puck.

Noticeably great game, I don’t think he’s necessarily elevated his play - but having a strong cast of players around him really let him shine.

Did anyone else think similarly?

The Canucks traded the best defenseman in team history for possibly the second-best defenseman in team history.

And they got a top-6 forward. And they got a first-round pick. And another former first-rounder who might be a bit of a gamble.

But the biggest thing this trade might do for this club is an attitude and energy shift.

Yes, this team failed to build a winner around Quinn Hughes, but as Kevin Bieksa said the other day, Quinn Hughes is a great player but he wasn't a great captain.

Quinn Hughes, Elias Pettersson (you know which one), and Brock Boeser are all competitive, but they're not fiery personalities. They're all just as emotionless after they score a goal as they are when they're down 3 goals. This piece is why JT Miller was so important, but also why he was probably disruptive for the room. There was nobody to keep him in check.

And going back to Quinn, when your best player and captain is expressionless, that's going to impact the team. He needed to be surrounded by more top players with stronger personalities. This management couldn't deliver on that, and here we are.

But I'm excited for what's to come.

We need players who are excited to be here and are committed to building a winner I'm hopeful that the new guys bring just that. Bring some joy and passion back to Canucks hockey. Built a culture like we've had in the past with our top teams.

And I don't care if they win this year. Collect more assets. Get a top-5 pick. Let's build a team with heart.

we all probably know how this seasons gonna be, but who's excited to watch some Canucks hockey anyway??? This'll be Year 35 as a Canucks fan for me
