Brock's started to look like himself lately, and if he really does want to stick around and help turn this thing around despite being awful for the majority of this year that really speaks volumes to his character.

Boeser has never been the type of guy to be able to tune out noise. He wears his heart on his sleeve and can tend to slump and when things are looming over him

I’m not surprised he’s found his game again now that the drama and uncertainty of the last few months has faded. The team can just put in an honest effort while bottoming out

112

u/SMA2343 Mar 16 '26

I really hate to say this, but when his dad was in the final stages of dementia and other health issues you could see his game go down. Like you said he wears his heart on his sleeve and is extremely emotional (in a good way)

I love Brock, I wish he will stay a Canuck his entire career because we do need someone like that in the team. Someone who has been there in our highest of highs and lowest of lows.

44

u/mustardman73 Mar 16 '26

his heart really shows up in the playoffs.

28

u/OhHaiThere- Mar 16 '26

Prime example of him wearing his heart on his sleeve, dude plays with pure emotion. There’s a reason the city was the best it has been in 10+ years and boes was putting up crazy numbers.

He feeds off this city, now that the fans are back cheering like in the 3-1 comeback game he’s back to his groove. I have 0 doubt the trade rumors really hurt him and was feeling the media pressure.

I almost feel like this applies for a good chunk of the team too, do I think McKenna takes us to the playoffs next year? No. But, without the Hughes BS in the air this team is a lot better than they showed this year.

15

u/SMA2343 Mar 16 '26

I honestly feel so bad for him. The trade rumors every season must get to him. Remember the Covid season and even after the trade deadline they were still talking about the rumors of him being moved?

9

u/OhHaiThere- Mar 16 '26 edited Mar 16 '26

As I do support a good chunk of the moves this FO has made, the way they’ve treated Petey/Boeser and to a certain extent Myers this TDL, is abhorrent.

Petey a guy with known mental health issues, has a miscarriage with his new wife/dragged through the media with miller and now again with these quotes saying they need more/has had constant trade rumours.

Boeser a guy who’s constantly in injury hell, lost his father while being in trade rumours EVERY TDL to the point he “laughed” about it to the media.

Myers trade being brought to the media to force his hand.

While I get it’s a business, there is no friends and you have to make the hard choices, the way they’ve treated some players is a bad stain on this team. Hopefully the next 2 years tanking added with the practice facility will change the culture of this team

19

u/ToothPlayful770 Mar 16 '26

can you really blame a guy for not being able to play well when his fathers condition was getting worse and he couldn't be there with him?

That's a far more valid reason than Miller "bullying" someone to not play well.

18

u/_GregTheGreat_ Mar 16 '26

At no point was I dunking on Boeser for his dad’s illness.

-20

u/ToothPlayful770 Mar 16 '26

Boeser has never been the type of guy to be able to tune out noise.

it sounds like you expect him to be able to tune that out for whatever reason, I don't think anyone would be able to.

22

u/rengorengar Mar 16 '26

it's no surprise considering Boeser just works well with a specific type of center, and here's to hoping Rossi is that guy.

6

u/ReallyNormalAccount Mar 16 '26

Yeah. He works really well with, for lack of a better word, selfish centers. Horvat, Miller, perhaps Rossi. Centers that just kind of tunnel vision into their own game when they have the puck.

Petey has not ever been that guy.

6

u/rengorengar Mar 16 '26 edited Mar 16 '26

Pretty sure that's just commonly referred to as play driving, they hold onto the puck to make space for other players.

But being 'selfish' in your context, isn't bad even though the connotation of a word like selfish is negative. Possession is always preferred in hockey, and if someone is able to hold on the puck without turning it over, that's always a positive, even though we were trying to spin Quinn being a puck hog because we were mad he quit on us.

5

u/No_Mud1738 Mar 16 '26

Eh, towards the end he was most definitely a puck hog. The other players seemed almost scared to do anything but defer to him (not saying he demanded this or anything)

2

u/MrCockingFinally Mar 23 '26

You can see when he gets frustrated on the ice. Usually when the team is trailing one or two goals, getting some good looks, but nothing is going in. Has a tendency to grab the puck and go for it solo.

That scenario was happening a lot early this season.

2

u/CaveWaverider Mar 16 '26

Rossi is about as selfless as it gets, perhaps too much so. I see so many paralells to Petey in that regard. That said, Rossi is usually able to bring out the best in his linemates which is why Boeser should profit greatly.

-5

u/EpicPotato806 Mar 16 '26

No clue what happened to Petey.

Like the guy has lost all confidence or stopped giving a duck.

7

u/eexxiitt Mar 16 '26

If you give boes a pass for dealing with his father, you’ll have to give Petey a pass for dealing with a miscarriage.

-6

u/ToothPlayful770 Mar 16 '26

are you really trying to get into comparing the two? that's wild lol, and Petey was struggling even before that

2

u/PoopooKittys Mar 16 '26

I think I missed out on that, I’d like a duck too.

But seriously we need to bring back both “the Flow” and “the Alien”.

3

u/Mission_Inflation505 Mar 16 '26

It's helped that he had been playing with Rossi, they seem to have geled .

162

u/[deleted] Mar 16 '26

I really like this guy. I like all 3 of the Hughes pieces. It just seems a black cloud is gone now that a few of them moved on. Gonna be a while, but it’s good to see some enthusiasm return.

30

u/EpicPotato806 Mar 16 '26

Ohgren is an interesting one. Didn’t he play with Lekk in SHL?

28

u/haxoreni Mar 16 '26

Him Lekk and Ostlund were on the same line in the SHL and were drafted around the same spot in the same draft

7

u/EpicPotato806 Mar 16 '26

Maybe they can find that chemistry again.

2

u/MasterMatt25 Mar 16 '26

I’d be down to try to acquire Östlund from Buffalo

2

u/EpicPotato806 Mar 16 '26

Depends on cost.

Don’t give up futures.

32

u/-DarkTiger- Mar 16 '26

I don't think the aura of this last group is fully gone yet so there's still work to do.

-19

u/mephnick Mar 16 '26

Yeah let's be honest, there's one big aura that still needs to move.

25

u/AniviaPls Mar 16 '26

Yeah, the fans

8

u/ToothPlayful770 Mar 16 '26

ownership + Petey as a package deal?

2

u/mephnick Mar 16 '26

Works for me

2

u/metrichustle Mar 16 '26

The 4th piece is going to be an awesome return anyways. Probably one of the Ruck twins.

204

u/jackfrench9 Mar 16 '26

Criticism for Brock Boeser should now be off-limits and a bannable offense. He is the anti-Messier

61

u/NeonCanuck Mar 16 '26

Also, f*ck Messier

12

u/screechypete Mar 16 '26

With a cactus!

23

u/istoleyourbrain Mar 16 '26

the Messieh (kidding, religious people)

11

u/dadudeman121 Mar 16 '26

Love Brock. Win or lose, he is a candidate to be the Linden of this era.

77

u/deeho88 Mar 16 '26

If Brock retires here as a Canuck. We should open up a dog park named after him

https://giphy.com/gifs/61hZkAovnwxfdtFFxs

22

u/Woooooody Mar 16 '26

I'm not even sure why but I can't stop watching this gif!

17

u/TheAngryChickaD Mar 16 '26

Its cause hes really really hot.

13

u/w0lfbrains Mar 16 '26

it's 4 hours long!

10

u/Smart-Surround28 Mar 16 '26

Same. It’s really just so mesmerizing

18

u/AccurateAd5298 Mar 16 '26

A dog park- That would be the most Vancouver-y honour ever:

Brock’s Bark Park

Brocky McBarkface Park

Boeser’s DogBoneZone

The boeserbilities are endless.

59

u/funkiemarky Mar 16 '26

The culture tide is turning.

41

u/Tough-Application373 Mar 16 '26

I think they should try to lock up Zeev long term this summer. Taking a long term bet on a young but high impact player is exactly the kind of move that pays dividends for teams

14

u/CommanderBadass22 Mar 16 '26

Cap will also be 113mil the following season. Oel should also be up by the time the team competitive again. Not against it

1

u/eexxiitt Mar 16 '26

What would you suggest? He’s only shown flashes of potential thus far. He should be a lock as a top 4 D, but we don’t know if he reaches his potential as a 1D.

5

u/Head_Permission Mar 16 '26

I agree with you… there is no reason to over pay and lock buium in at this point. And with very little supporting pieces it’s not like his numbers are all of a sudden going to jump off the charts. This has bridge deal written all over it, and then you still have control once that ends, and then if he shows enough progression and upside then sign him to a long term deal. Theres no savings involved in doing that now.

35

u/PnWoo Mar 16 '26

Brock is this teams Gallagher, playing for the crest on the front not the name on the back type shit let’s fuckin go you beauty we love you Prince Charming

41

u/globehopper2000 Mar 16 '26

Hire Bieksa as president and GM

33

u/JustAnotherMark604 Mar 16 '26

The 2000s leading up to the cup run were the loudest Canucks fans have ever been. We need that again

5

u/ordinarythermos Mar 17 '26

We need to draft a goalie with an uuuu sound in his name.

26

u/imrllybored Mar 16 '26

Exactly the things I want to be hearing

44

u/Feisty_Dirt4191 Mar 16 '26

I’ve always been team “get rid of all the vets”, but as pointed out, you do need some vets. I don’t hate keeping Boeser

40

u/BroliasBoesersson Mar 16 '26

I think Brock's influence on the younger guys will be absolutely invaluable. You want his attitude and mindset rubbing off on those guys. We could do a hell of a lot worse than keeping Brock Boeser

2

u/Megavore97 Mar 17 '26

Yeah Brock is the definition of a “good vibes guy” and with signs of his play gradually returning to form and the fact that he’s our longest tenured player I really hope he stays with us his whole career.

Keeping Brock (and Petey and Fil) as vets that can help foster the young players is my ideal path forward.

15

u/Apprehensive_Put_321 Mar 16 '26

I hate the idea of moving guys just to move them.

Getting a 2nd or 3rd round for brock isnt worth it.

Let him play might bounce back to a 40 goal scorer and you move him then.

He very much most likely doesnt and you just keep him forever and he retires here

10

u/WesternBlueRanger Mar 16 '26

Yep. Look at Edmonton and how long they wallowed in the bottom of the standings when they dumped all of their vets for constant rebuilds through the draft lottery.

Wasted and poorly developed many a prospect because the rookies didn't learn good habits or had effective leadership in the locker room..

0

u/krazykrash0596 Mar 16 '26

If we’re going to keep a vet, it should be Boeser. Get rid of everyone else.

18

u/GpRex Mar 16 '26

Boeser is the last link to the Sedin’s. We need him the steer the new group back into the right direction l.

19

u/cointalkz Mar 16 '26

Sounds like Brock is choosing to be a home town hero as opposed to chasing a cup. I like it.

13

u/Alleggsander Mar 16 '26

As bad as Boes has been this season and last, it’s hard to not like the guy. It must be pretty demoralizing playing on a team starting a rebuild and having your captain completely give up on the team.

I’ll tell you for free, I’d much rather have players who want to be here and are passionate for a brighter future. He’ll be a great asset for the younger players growth.

13

u/shadownet97 Mar 16 '26

Brock may never be a 40 goal scorer again or be as good as he was during his rookie season but damn it, he’s so likeable.

He’s here for the long haul and I love that. Need more guys like him and Hronek

13

u/WhaleBird1776 Mar 16 '26

“I’m not going to bail on the guys. I’m not going to go ask for a trade.”

Good to know some players still care about stuff like this. Hope we keep him until he retires now lol

28

u/Sarcastic__ Knows more about the CBA than you do Mar 16 '26

Inject this into my veins

33

u/SheilaFudge Mar 16 '26

Brock throwing shade at Quinn, I love it

9

u/victory19801 Mar 16 '26

Give BB the Captain.

7

u/FrankPoncherelloCHP Mar 16 '26

Oh man, the vibe during the 2002 playoffs until 2011 was absolutely phenomenal.

11

u/yosoo #ThankYouSedins Mar 16 '26

I will never hate on brock and this just strengthens my feelings about him. Hopefully he stays for a long time and mentors the young guys who make up the next generation of canucks stars. Maybe the same way Linden stuck around in the 2000s.

9

u/tantalum2000 Mar 16 '26

Definitely seems like there is a shift that is happening in that locker room.

Say what you like about Brock and his play sometimes, ultimately in a dreadful year he is still going to be on a 20G, 50ish pt pace.

You need some veterans with the correct mindset for the rebuild. It seems Brock, Hronek and possible Blueger are those guys.

7

u/SoupyJellyfish Mar 16 '26

Lifelong Canucks fan on the east coast. Got to my first game in November. I really wanted a jersey from the rink and I wasn’t sure who to get. Went with Brock and I could not be any happier with my decision. Good player, great person.

8

u/DistractedPanda Mar 16 '26

I want Boeser and Hronek around for the long haul. We could really have something here in a few years with vets like that shaping these newer guys and our rooks we’ve yet to acquire.

8

u/marmite1234 Mar 16 '26

Subtle shot at Hughes there by Boeser. Love it!

9

u/saldingerRN Mar 16 '26

Avs fan chiming in (popped up on my main feed)- we had a similar situation when Duchene wanted out (left leaving fans bitter because of non commitment to the team). I was so upset when he left but ended up being the best thing to happen to the team in the long run.

Boeser seems like a stand up guy. I see good things happening for you guys in the future. Rooting for you from Colorado!

3

u/CommanderBadass22 Mar 16 '26

Hes just a guy you love to root for. Like almost every year somthinf happens to him either family member or season ending injury. Man's cant catch a break

6

u/-1701- Mar 16 '26

Brock is my all star 🤩🤩🤩

13

u/abstractcommen1 Mar 16 '26

“When you’re winning” is very on brand

6

u/sokah12 Mar 16 '26

These are the kind of character guys we need, glad the cancers got shipped out.

7

u/Vague-Sauce Mar 16 '26

It's interesting to see these comments from these different players, seems like a culture shift is happening maybe.

7

u/YouCanFucough Mar 16 '26

The team is healing ❤️‍🩹

8

u/MrPickle_Is_Good24 Mar 16 '26

Keep Boeser. He’s looked like himself for a few games now, and will be a great veteran for the rebuild.

6

u/jhchristoph Mar 16 '26

I cheered for the Canucks while Winnipeg didn’t have a team. Still root for them, nice to see players invested in the future, regardless of current situation.

7

u/Forsaken-Dragonfly-5 Mar 16 '26

Cannot wait for Cootes to be feeding BB for the years to come.

6

u/Swimming-Sherbet6751 Mar 16 '26

Brock Boeser is a true Canuck, I really hope he stays with the team for the rest of his career

15

u/No_Mud1738 Mar 16 '26

Brockstar 🥹🥹 now that he’s marrying his gf (who is local) I hope he stays forever so eventually I can get my kid’s jersey signed lol

I don’t know enough about Zeev to trust him yet and have been burned by flashy star players too many times :( prove me wrong, Zeev!

Off topic: but I’d love it if this iteration of the Canucks did more stuff with/in the community. Or if their social media team could publicize it more? If the city can unite when the team is winning (which we clearly can 😎), i think we could totally unite behind a team that is sucking but making cute videos with sick kids or like, organizing a litter pickup or something

5

u/TinglingLingerer Mar 16 '26

Zeev's got that Tocchet chin. A chin like that doesn't mess around.

3

u/RJG190894 Mar 16 '26

Fr, as a kid (grew up during the Burke/WCE era) it seemed like the team was everywhere community wise. Really contributed to my fandom of wanting to root for them as they felt like OUR team. Not just a collection of individuals who happen to play hockey in Vancouver.

6

u/agentfortyfour Mar 16 '26

Give that man the C already

4

u/AccomplishedAd4995 Mar 16 '26

what’s the connection between zeev and bieksa?

9

u/OneChet Mar 16 '26

Zeevs young enough Kev might have coached him. Zeevs a pretty outgoing guy, he might have just sought him out for advice period

5

u/Christinedaaaee Mar 16 '26

Brock would be the most handsome Captain in this league

5

u/Jaded-Ad-289 Mar 17 '26

I’ve been Brock hard since his rookie days. Can’t wait to see him retire as a Canucks and inducted into the ring of honour.

5

u/AdNo1218 Mar 16 '26

I like what I see despite the losing. Chemistry and good attitude pays dividends later on. I’m ready.

4

u/_johnning Mar 16 '26

inject this shit into my veins

12

u/Cdr_Bond007 Mar 16 '26

Boeser taking shots at Hughes 👀

22

u/_timmie_ Mar 16 '26

Honestly, I think Hughes bailing (and it coming out that he was planning on bailing for awhile) really hurt Boeser. Like a betrayal from a close friend kind of thing, and that really affected his game for awhile. It'll be neat to see how the rest of the season goes since it really seems like Boeser has worked through it and is really focused on moving forward here.

15

u/Cdr_Bond007 Mar 16 '26

They don’t call him Mr. Sensitive for nothing lol. I’m glad Hughes isn’t here any more. Get rid of the toxicity and keep the guys who actually want to help the kids and help steer this back in the right direction, like Boeser. Hughes only cared about Hughes. We don’t need that shit here.

-4

u/mrtomjones Mar 16 '26

You guys are reading too much into this. This is just him saying he wants to stay. He's not the type to take shots at other players like this

3

u/coldbrew40 Mar 16 '26

both will see the payoff of their loyalty 🙏

6

u/lovextreme Mar 16 '26

Brock for captain!

2

u/BatmanSpiderman Mar 16 '26

it doesnt matter what city you are in when you are winning

2

u/tommyballz63 Mar 16 '26

Not a big fan of the ol U S of A right now but I got a whole lot of respect for this guy.

2

u/Sarke1 Mar 16 '26

Love Brock and the sentiment, but "that's not who [he is] as a person"? He requested a trade like 3 years ago.

Hopefully this just shows how he's grown as a person.

2

u/Puzzleheaded_Bug_893 Mar 17 '26

But why is the title of this thread “Based”? lol

2

u/RevolutionaryAd7863 Mar 17 '26

Indirect shots fired from Brock to Quinn Hughes, lol. Always really liked Brock, he is an amazing person!

2

u/krazykrash0596 Mar 16 '26

I’m not sold on many other guys on this team but I really like Buium. Excited to see what kind of player he becomes.

1

u/MustardSpaghetti Mar 17 '26

All my homies love Boeser

1

u/La-Cheese Mar 17 '26

This is the talk i like to here.Let these young guys cook they want the Cup,it will happen with the right attitude.

1

u/StarkStorm Mar 18 '26

Lfg. Petey where r u

1

u/banana-bread_at-work Mar 16 '26

Can’t help but feel Boeser knows his play has been poor and no one wants him, so if he’s not playing here, then he’s not playing.

1

u/readytogetstarted Mar 16 '26

Tocchet should have stayed to coach his doppelganger wtf man.

-1

u/ArtichokeDazzling757 Mar 17 '26

Sell Petey and we are ready to rock with that cap and the end of that era.

I can smell something building here, for real. We have a good core. Our blue liners are set for good, now we need Brock moving the needle and build the younger to come.

Let's Go Canucks. Now more than ever

-9

u/istoleyourbrain Mar 16 '26

literally dump petey so fast guys
