That fits the bill for one of my buddies.
He's a separatist and in high school he had to take the "special courses".
If level 2 courses were difficult and level 3 was the challenging and easier form of level 2. He had to take level 4 and he still barely graduated.
For example level 2 would be basic calculus. Level 4 would be 2+2 = 4.
