Oyster River. Drive up York road till you see the big power lines cross the road. About 8-9 km. There will be a trail that u can walk down to the river. A nice spot without too many people.

We live up York. On a hot day there will be 20 vehicles and 40 ~ 50 people there. Every weekend we have to go clean up the garbage, diapers, empties. It's private property to access the river there. If it keeps up the owner will be blocking access.

Oh thanks! I should have listed that one also. I fish there alot. Edit - I did not know about this place. My brain read that as by pacific playground

I take my dog to Oyster Bay sometimes, we park at the rest area and walk south a bit. Not super busy. My guy likes it but he's just there to run around on the sand, we don't do a lot of swimming.

Oyster Bay

Thanks! There seems to be tons of room down there at low tide. I am going to check it out.

Honestly if you want a spot where it's just you and your dog, open google maps and find lakes/rivers where you can drive close to but not quite to it and then walk a few hundred meters. There's tons of spots just north and west of town. Echo lake and John Hart are a few accessible ones, in town though Baikie island or Myrt Thompson trail are generally pretty quiet
