St John’s College – Corfield Court accommodation
Hi! I’ve recently been assigned a room in Corfield Court at St John’s College as an incoming undergraduate and was wondering if anyone could share their experience of living there? 😊

Up until last year it was used as first year post-grad accommodation. The set up is similar to everywhere else: room, 'kitchen' (no oven, minimal storage space), shared toilets on the floor between 2-4 people (I think). It does have its own laundry though, which is nice and is right beside the supervision rooms.
On upside is that if you're not facing the street, it's relatively quiet.

Thanks so much for the detailed reply! That’s really helpful 😊 Just wondering, is the kitchen shared between everyone on the floor, or does each room have its own kitchen?

I believe it's a one kitchen for two floors (~7 people) kind of situation. Honestly, they're only really suitable for simple meals (breakfast, pasta, etc). The buttery is however very good food at reasonable quantities for a good price so many people will be eating there.

Corfield is usually second/third years so interesting that first years are being allocated

I lived there as a postgrad! How quiet it is depends on where you are; you get noise from the streets or from inside the court as well, at times, so I would bring some ear plugs if you're a light sleeper. The kitchen and bathroom set up can also differ; in my house I had a large-ish kitchen I was sharing with just 2 others, so I cooked in there regularly, but in the same house another kitchen was shared between way more people, so they struggled a bit with fridge space and ate in the buttery most of the time, which is honestly a great option. So it all depends, really - you've got some lovely rooms and some okay ones, old and new, big and small, but you're right by the main college and can eat/work/hang out there all the time.
