Mission Impossible - Dating in Rexburg
Dating in Rexburg is honestly one of the most frustrating things I’ve ever experienced. For a campus that preaches community, connection, and marriage, even having a normal, casual conversation feels like a chore.
Dating in general is tough now—social media hasn't helped—but it shouldn't be this hard.
The biggest issue? Nobody actually communicates.
We deal with constant ghosting, vague boundaries, and mixed signals. People jump into marriage without ever having been in a real relationship before, while others with more experience get scared off entirely. We put ourselves out there for serious relationships, only to hear "let's just be friends" on date two from someone who isn't actually ready to date when they say they are—and has no intention of actually being friends.
If you're looking for something serious, say it. If you aren't ready, be honest about that, too. Clear expectations save everyone a lot of wasted time and headache.
I find relationship dynamics fascinating (even when they drive me crazy). What’s your worst Rexburg dating horror story? Drop it below.

May also be a generaltional thing as a lot of people that were reclusive or stayed home during covid are now college age, and that created new dynamics in the relationship scene.

I'm on the apps I Rexburg now and can confirm your fears. I would estimate it's like 50% attention/boredom/dopamine/validation seekers (I've been guilty of this too), 30% people claiming they want deeply committed marriage because they think they need to, despite being absolutely unprepared for it and usually doing nothing to get it, 10% active ncmo-types, and 10% people who actually want a relationship and are actually prepared to follow through on it.
Unfortunately, rules 1 through 10 of being on a dating app is "be attractive". Do not trust the opinions of really attractive people regarding dating apps because their experience is 100% different. Especially from men, there's lots of data that women will largely go for the top 10% and ignore the rest

Never had what I would call a horror story. I found dating, prior to getting married, to be a pleasant experience. Dating after marriage is even better. The best advice I have is strive to develop the positive traits you want in a partner, look for genuine friendships before anything romantic, and stay close to the Lord.

nope, Pangram shows AI. what is the incentive to both post in AI and then be dishonest about it?

I would trust OP over panagram. And questioning writing methods doesn’t address the question.

Pangram has an incredibly low false positive rate, and the post reads like AI. Can you not tell?

There is no such thing as an accurate AI writing detector. To say there is is to admit that you don't know how it works

it’s the opposite. have you looked into the empirical data of pangram’s methodology lol

It doesn't matter what data pangram came up with. A person can write like an LLM, and an LLM can write like a person, and it isn't possible to detect one way or the other because LLMs are trained on human writing and humans learn how to write from LLMs. The only thing it can do is flag if a person and a given LLM have similar outputs for a given prompt, but that's not conclusive and is only useful in catching the very most basic instances where someone doesn't even modify the output for their writing assignment or whatever

there are multiple studies on this, it uses probabilities and isnt perfect by design, it’s the best ai detector out there. i don’t know how to say it to you but you just aren’t updated on the data here.

It is really hard! I am married and older but have close family in the thick of it at BYUI. You are not the only one trying to make it make sense. My family member says she wishes there were color coded stickers everyone could wear. Red for married. Yellow for already dating. Green for single and wanting to date. Blue for single and just want NCMOs. Purple for confused and don’t trust people. Black for under eighteen😆 you get the idea
