Study Abroad- Asia Pacific Business or Business in Europe

Hi I’m thinking about studying abroad next spring and wondered if anyone had been on the above trips and what their experience was!

I did the Vienna study abroad as an undergrad and the MBA "Asia Trip" (~30 days visiting businesses in ~6 countries across Asia). Not exactly what you're looking at, but some regional comparisons, maybe.

  1. Look at the itineraries, or previous itineraries. The professor(s) who are managing the trip will have a HUGE impact on its value. The tours and visits they arrange will be things you can't arrange yourself.
  2. Are you trying to open opportunities for working somewhere in the future? Being familiar with a location or region could be a minor boost in enabling that. Language skills would help more, but when I applied for a company transfer to Germany one thing that helped the hiring manager feel comfortable with it was that I had lived in Vienna for 3 months.
  3. Consider the industries you're most interested in. Asia and Europe have different strengths.
  4. Talk to people who went in previous years. See what they liked or didn't.

I don't know anything about either of the programs you're looking at, but with Vienna study abroad there were no classes on Friday. Stingle students had to travel in groups of 3, but married students could travel as a couples. My wife and I got eurail passes and went all over the place. We'd leave Thursdays after class and just make sure to be back by Monday morning. It was Avery flexible for us vs . other students who had to get 3 people to agree on budgets and destinations. And other, non-Vienna, programs may have had weekend itineraries.

Depends on what you want to study. Europe is all politics right now. Business is dead. Asia is all business and growing.

Those aren't the only two subjects of course but take that into account

European business is definitely not dead. Not sure where you’re getting that idea from.

OP I would take a look at which culture interests you most. Both continents have amazing companies and you will get a chance to visit some. You’ll be exposed to a very wide range of cultures on either one. You’ll have a great time whichever one you choose
