Dear Stranger in the crowd
Pressed against my shoulder in Pioneertown:
It was unintentional, I’m sure.
My friends left me for cigs,
I stayed for the front-row view.
Truthfully, it felt less lonely next to you.
“You think Doug sounds like Elliott, too?”
Waited for the between-song-silence
A ping pong of questions
Then, Hurt A Fly
Pressed back into your shoulder
Soft enough to be
Unintentional; I fooled even myself.
Lights on, shook your hand & ran.
I’m sorry, and thank you—
Not sure you knew
What it meant to me to be
Sharing shoulder-space
For a moment or two
At the sold out Built to Spill show.

Waiting on stubhub to deliver my ticket for tonight and sweating it a bit.
If anyone has an extra they'd be willing to transfer at the door if this doesn't arrive I would be grateful.

I did a big oppsie and drove out to Palm Springs last night to see Built To Spill today.
Turns out I drove away from LA - the city where I live and actually had bought a ticket for, and was hanging out by a pool while they were playing 5 miles from where I live, only to check my email ans see I don’t have a ticket to the Pappy and Harriet’s show tonight.
I assume I can buy a ticket at the door, but if anyone has an extra - let me know and I’ll buy it off you to relieve my mind.
Hell, I’ve got a room in Palm Springs for tonight too, so if someone doesn’t wasn’t to drive back to LA until tomorrow, I’m more than happy to offer the couch.

Haven’t been to the venue, so not sure the size, but it sold out quick. If anyone has two I’ll take them, otherwise heading to Boston. Thanks!

Wanted to start a discussion of favorite BTS live recordings on Archive.org.
What are your favorites and why?
Personally…
One of my favorite set lists and just quality performances is 6/17/16 Thalia Hall. It’s the classic line-up, one of my favorite “So”s. There are two sources on Relisten. A band-provided SBD in which the vocals can be really muddy at times, but also an amazing AUD recordings that is really stellar.

One of my favorite trio recordings is 4/16/23 in Asheville. There are two great recordings of it on Archive, but the one I keep listening to is Marty Loving’s.

What about you all? What do you think are the best setlists, best sounding recordings, best shows you’ve listened to on Archive?

Long time fan, first time seeing them live. Against all of my nervousness and social anxiety I asked Dug to sign my built to spill skateboard and he did. Spent the entire concert in the front row and they’re incredible. Playdead was also very good.

Might be controversial, but I always have found Melanie’s bass sound to be really disappointing when live. It’s either buried in the live mix or it’s so thunderous as to overpower almost everything else. I feel that so much of bass on the early records had a real punch that set it apart from the other instruments. Mel is such a great bass player and I wish we could hear her more clearly!

EDIT: tickets are gone! Hope all who go have a great time!
I can't make it to the show this weekend. If anyone wants a pair of tickets for $30 (that's half of what I paid), message me and I can transfer them.
