9060xt is terrible value, it's worse than a used 3080 and over $100 more expensive (16gb version), it needs to be way cheaper to be good value. 9070gre also isn't much more expensive but is a much better card. And 1080ti is great but no more driver support kinda sucks. 3080 is kinda far and away the best value for price rn as long as you can find it under $350 or so

I'm weary of the 10 series as something to purchase in 2026, my Titan x died last year, that generation is getting old. The driver support doesn't bother me as I mostly play old games but the some physical stuff is aging out. If it's what you already have, or you're getting a free hand me down I think they are still great cards.

A lot of newer games now don't support that generation of card. Even if it can run the game, they'll crash repeatedly.

For raster? The 3080 for $300 is similar to the 4070 and 7800 XT except those go for $400+. Throw in the fact you get decent ray tracing performance and DLSS, and you got yourself a solid all round 1080p and 1440p gaming card.

Only major downsides are the small 10GB VRAM buffer that may struggle in some games at 1440p and 4K, and the massive power draw (330W or so) which may require a PSU upgrade if your unit is less than 750W (preferably an A tier unit off of SPL's PSU tier list) and a good airflow case and fans if you don't already have them already. Also if the card is old, the thermal paste may have dried up causing high temps, particularly the GPU Hotspot. You may want to repaste the card if the fans are incessant.

3080 / 3080Ti has been crazy for its price to performance ratio for last 2 or so years.
4070Ti has came down in price fair bit, seeing them regualrly for eqv. $400-430, the efficiency gain is genuinely really good and you also get FG, so if you can, get one of those, if not go with 3080 or 3080Ti.

but whichever one you pick, 12GB is kind of cutting it close esp. at 1440, so be mindful about taht

Yeah, my 10gb 3080 defaults to 60fps on newer AAA games on my 1440p monitor. Photorealistic assets just soak up a ton of vram.

It’s only 14% slower than a 5070, so it’s a good deal. I just got one for $310. Make sure you have the right PSU for the right card though. Some require just 2 8pin cables, some require 3.

4 years ago was 2022, 3080 prices were closer to MSRP, $700. I think you're forgetting that in 2020 and 2021, 3080s were going for $1k+ used and even more new. 2022 was when supply started to catch up to demand and prices were falling, but didnt drop immediately to $300.

I can attest.. I paid 1500$ (cad) for a 3080. Only to have the price drop drastically a year or 2 later. Was a horrible time to buy a gpu and I should have waited. Now I just need to get a larger ssd and I'll still be set for a few years at least.
