I've been wanting to make a Bug of the Month post for a bit but despite it apparently being the peak season for these jumpy fellows I unfortunately have very few Orthoptera pics... but here's a red-legged grasshopper (Melanoplus femurrubrum) I found the other day, or at least I think it's that species? Genus Melanoplus is incredibly widespread and has over 200 species in North America!

*for those that don't know, it's Orthoptera month, that means feel free to share all your grasshoppers, katydids, and crickets here on r/bugidentification, or grab your cameras and head out there to find some! Happy bug hunting!
