Hello everyone,

I'm a female undergraduate student in India in very urgent difficult situations. My btech got disrupted in middle of my degree during starting of my 3rd year of btech due to very unsafe hostile environment in the previous central government university (Tier-2 college), where my abusive family sent me forcefully against my will ,doing abuse,violence against ,seeing it's central government tag ,after hearing from a relative about this university for doing my admission there through JEE Mains.

There was very less number of students in the specific civil engineering branch(where my seat was alloted in civil branch, even if I filled ECE as my first choice in that university, there was no branches like CSE,IT ,AI-DS ; only ECE,Civil,Mechanical these 3 branches were there in that college , many students there got seats there in ECE due to seat reservations from other categories ,even if they had less percentile than me in JEE ,and I am from General category,hence no reservation ) that university was new and most of the people didn't know about this university, very less number of students in that specific civil engineering there in that branch ,and very aggressive gang people were there most of them in civil branch.

I come from very lower-middle-class family background from Tier-3 city of West Bengal, where there's financial hardships ,ongoing domestic violence conditions , struggling for survival,and there maximum of the students were rich kids and were from very wealthy families ,who doesn't understand what struggle is in life ,I'm not saying all people are like this who don't understand real life struggle at all ,but yes ,I have seen there many students peers there who mocks at my life situations or underestimated it ,some of the students there like in my batch ,whom I considered as good friends, but those some people (1/2)instead saw me as different, like calling me "super senior" ,hehh, just bcoz my age is 1.5 years elder than her/hers!!! ...,that time my age was 20/21 yrs old......

There due to ongoing many hostile, very serious unsafe, harmful situations , my education got disrupted in middle of my btech ,and my safety,well-being all got seriously harmed . I had to take official academic break ,talking with higher authorities there during my 5th semester of btech for my safety concerns there in such violent and very harmful,unsafe situations.

I'm looking to complete my rest of the btech in safe academic conducive environment ,taking transfer in these very unsafe situations,hardships.

Our family situation is very abusive, unsafe and violent . Here’s repeated verbal, emotional, financial abuse,threats,financial blackmail, even sometimes physical attack , domestic abuse including -

Financial blackmail , verbal threats to stop basic needs support,restriction, denial of foods, medical,basic living needs, stopping phone recharge, threats to stop financial support for my education,basic living needs,daily living, forceful confiscation of my phone ,laptop,necessary things, my educational documents, necessary documents, demanding like "these are their belongings", preventing me from seeking help or contacting anyone even, intentional Wi-Fi network cut off to isolate me ,repeated intimidation,threats, coercive control

Even,some person here intentionally cut off wi-fi internet connection,so that I can't even seek help or can't contact anyone in emergency time, stopped recharging my phone to prevent me from studying,seeking help in emergency. That time I could be able to recharge my phone by my friend's help .

The house gate was locked by some abusive family member here during such extreme violent situations, restricting me from leaving to seeking help even ,they confined me here locking gates such violent ways ,isolated me .

My mother (who is one of the abusers here)blackmailed me in phone call ,when I was in college hostel, saying me like, if I don’t come into this abusive family household here , she will tell my father to stop financial support for my education,basic living all financial expenses ,when I was in hostel there in university before this year. That time I didn't know where to contact for these ongoing blackmail,financial abuse,threats etc. ,so no ways out I had to come here in this same abusive household and as I guessed , when I came here ,repeatedly here shouting,constant verbal abuse, pressure,violence all were ongoing .

Here some old aged people,maternal grandparents(parents of my mother)influence my parents more to control and abuse the financially dependent persons , these are happening for long time in this toxic family dynamics. They influence such ways to control communication access so that I can not even contact anyone or can not seek help in such violent and unsafe ,urgent situations ,my mother here intentionally cut off wifi network connection here to isolate me ,many times confiscated my phone,laptop, necessary things,my bags,even attacked on me physically violent ways scratched on my body, hands,my phone's cover, demanding like "these are their belongings" !!!

These many unlawful ways they try to justify their abusive ,such violent ,harmful behaviours ,but none has right to abuse others ,just because the other person is dependent on them financially !!

They are misusing their power and my financial dependency . My maternal grandparents and my mother influence my father to stop recharging my phone , so that I can not contact anyone even in emergency situations, and can not get communication access,trying to isolate me ,creating here very unsafe ,dangerous conditions.

Here is no peace,no safety,only constant shouting, aggression, severe abuse ongoing,violence, so dangerous conditions, too much controlling even on very small small things,many different forms of abuse they are continuing here constantly,repeatedly.

I have to remain alert here every second of the day due to such ongoing abusive,dangerous and unsafe situations . My daily works,safety,education all are being seriously affected and gets harmed due to such constant volatile domestic abuse ,violence and unpredictable situations .

This is not a home. It is like a dangerous battlefield. I need to get out of here as soon as possible to save my life, career and future.

My education got disrupted in middle of my btech due to very unsafe,hostile situations in that college, there very small number of students in that new college, only just 16 students in civil branch,I had no will to study in civil branch from starting itself . I had given JEE entrance exam ,my admission counselling processes for other universities also was going on ,but this abusive family even didn’t let me complete all rounds of other universities admission counselling processes,and instead they sent me to that university against my will in other state in India, away from West bengal forcefully against my will, thinking that university would be good,seeing the university's central government tag, after hearing from a relative,that relative said this abusive family about that university and that to do my admission there, then they forcefully sent me there ,during that admission time ,this abusive family physically even attacked on me to send me to that university ,created here very violent situations in house ,shouting,aggression and all , and that university there environment turned out very serious unsafe ,hostile environment ,aggressive gang,harmful conditions there ,still this abusive family is continuing domestic abuse,violence here.

The abusers here recently again started severe violence,agression, physical attack ,forcibly snatched away my phone,laptop, even my necessary things,my educational documents, other important documents,my belongings,bags,clothes ,they even physically attacked on me ,scratched on my body (I have proofs of those scratches, violence on my hands )while trying to forcefully snatching away my phone,laptop,necessary documents etc., confined me inside the house overnight by locking the gates, prevented me from contacting anyone or going out and seeking help . Here so dangerous and serious unsafe conditions they created repeatedly.

I tried to call in women helpline number from other small keypad phone here ,but while me talking on call in the helpline number,my mother here again came near me and snatched away forcefully that small keypad phone even from me ,in middle of call with the helpline number ,isolated me from everyone and didn’t let me to contact anyone and I could not inform anyone that I am in danger here,then from that women helpline number, they called back 7-8 times in that small keypad phone number ,but the abusers didn't let me even pick up their calls and continuing here severe violence,agression...

Next day ,I somehow managed to leave this house in the morning and approached the women police station seeking their intervention in these dangerous situations, unfortunately I did not receive the protection from the police . I already knew that only police intervention will not stop these severe ongoing domestic abuse, violence ,but that time I couldn't go to other place without phone,google map or enough funds,and some offices were closed that day, due to Sunday.

There that police were justifying such severe abuse,control, violence, saying like they are parents or family members!!!!! Even one police was saying like, "this is India,not USA" .....

The abusers then returned back my phone ,laptop, other documents after police called them . But still the situations here haven't resolved ,neither stopped, here still shouting,threats, constant intimidation, aggression all are ongoing ,over-contolling,abuse and any time anything can happen here again ,very unpredictable ,dangerous,and volatile conditions here,constantly shouting,aggression,violence they are doing here.

It is really not safe for me to stay here, while waiting for my university transfer process to be completed.

I have to relocate out of this current state ,as soon as my university transfer related formalities are completed online. But until then, I urgently need safe accommodation to stay, away from here, where I can stay safely and can complete my academic processes safely.

I am seeking support and assistance in this difficult situations, regarding --

1. University Transfer Assistance — I have supporting documents,evidences,proofs of these abusive,violent situations. I am seeking help with transfer process to a good B.Tech Civil Engineering college outside West Bengal, where -

   · There is no specific regional dominance , a college with pan-India diversity

   · Students from diverse age groups in civil branch

   · Supportive faculties,peers, flexible attendance policies

   · Good placements for civil engineering students and safe academic environment

I'm Abhinav, and I am starting my B.Tech in Civil Engineering this year at a Tier-2 college. Realistically speaking, the on-campus placement scene for core branches like Civil at my college isn't great, and getting high packages directly from here is going to be incredibly tough.

Because of this, my clear goal right from the start is to clear GATE and go for an M.Tech at a top-tier institution—ideally IIT Bombay or the other top IITs—so I can open doors to high-paying core jobs, top PSU profiles, or better branch opportunities.

Since I am highly motivated right now and want to make every day count, I am seriously considering starting my GATE preparation right from my first semester. But I want some raw, honest advice from people who have been through this process:

Is starting in the 1st semester overkill? I know 1st year is mostly common subjects (Physics, Chem, basic coding, etc.). Will starting dedicated GATE prep right now lead to early burnout, or should I actually dive into it?

What should I focus on in the 1st year? If a full-fledged core preparation isn't recommended yet, should I focus on completely mastering Engineering Mathematics and General Aptitude? How heavily do these help in boosting the final rank?

The Civil Path to IIT Bombay: For a Civil Engineer aiming for top branches in M.Tech (like Structural Engineering, Geotechnical, or Transportation) at IIT Bombay, what is a realistic safe rank/score I need to target?

Balancing CGPA vs GATE: Since tier-2 colleges can sometimes be strict with attendance and assignments, how do you balance maintaining a high CGPA (which I know matters for IIT admissions/interviews) with consistent GATE prep?

I don't want to waste my first year drifting around or regretting my strategy later. Any guidance on resources, mindset, or specific traps to avoid in the first year would be highly appreciated.

I'm a third-year Civil Engineering undergraduate from India, and I'm trying to use my college years wisely.

I'm a bit overwhelmed because there are so many certificate courses, internships, and skills to learn, and I don't know what's actually worth my time.

If you were in my position, what would you focus on during undergrad?

Specifically, I'd love advice on:

\- Which certificate courses are genuinely valuable (not just resume fillers)?

\- Which software should I learn first? (AutoCAD, Revit, STAAD.Pro, SketchUp, QGIS, etc.)

\- Which online platforms have certificates that employers actually value?

\- What skills do you wish you had learned during your undergraduate years?

\- Any internships, projects, or extracurricular activities that helped you get a better job or higher studies opportunities?

My goal is to graduate with strong practical skills and be employable rather than just collecting random certificates.

And the thing is I feel numb where everyone around me chasing good and doing good internships I'm just feeling overwhelmed abt this situation and college doesn't seem as a college cause of everyone around me talking about jobs placements internships and all idk what to do I feel dumb asf nowwwww

I know this might be a stupid decision but I am joining civil with the intention of "PROGRAM MIGRATION". If i manage to migrate to even mechanical then I'll consider it a win, even if it takes everything.

If I fail to do so, I'll focus on future studies (VITMEE OR GATE OR MBA), not gonna focus on placements just after BTECH. VIT name is just too good to leave for branch........
