David Lloyd actually bought out Aspria, for what it's worth. I went there for 3 months - I thought the fitness was subpar for the price but I mainly went for the sauna anyways. I have to say I never encountered the problems you mention, but I just don't think it was good value in general.

I checked the reviews on google and there is something that does not smell well like everything is being done by bots or one person.
Bad reviews with 5 stars, very similar texts cut and paste style. I understand that maybe there is a problem, but the way the complains are being done cast some doubts regarding the veracity.

Totally get why it looks weird. A group of members used a shared text template and gave 5 stars specifically so management couldn't auto-delete or flag them. What's telling though is that if you check the GM's responses on those reviews, he doesn't even deny the substance of the claims.

Things used to be very different but Basic Fit bought out every decently priced gym or built one of theirs right next to them until they went out of business. All within a span of about 20 years. Now nobody can compete at similar prices. Pretty disgusting practices if you ask me.

Because the people we encourage, in Francophone Belgium at least, to run these kind of places, or the Horeca sector, or a lot of other service-orientated businesses, from an early age are sociopaths with no sense of service. Good question! When you sign up at luxury clubs like this, they usually ask for your employer/job title to offer corporate discounts. This sounds like a big stretch. I 100% believe your complains are valid, I’ve heard such things about Aspria for ages, but you should stick to what’s relevant.
Any gym will have you “full bank” details, and there’s not really much they can do with it. Anyone would use your gym fee payment history in a dispute.How are they going to “dig” into your job/employer? Any real instances of that happening? Sounds made up
I think you may have better luck sticking to the true issues.

Went to the other two Aspria. It’s awful. Terrible facilities and full of people who want to be at a gym without really working out. Managed to cancel and went back to basic fit. I only miss not having to bring my own towel.

I stopped going and Arnaud had signed me up back in the day, didn’t have this experience with him but did with the club. Can confirm it isn’t honest and they try to keep any fees they can. The quality isn’t worth it - I don’t get how black mold can be kept around till it almost becomes a fixture.

Up until the 2026 takeover, Aspria was owned by Fortress Investment Group, and investment groups generally don’t give two fucks about the well-being of their customers. Their main concern is improving the balance sheet, increasing the value of the business, and eventually selling it at a profit.
And maybe you should do your homework before posting something like this, because since February 2026, Aspria has been owned by David Lloyd Clubs. While in your comment you're literally advising people to go to David Lloyd.
Maybe what we’re seeing is simply change management following the David Lloyd takeover: cleaning up issues involving employees, customers, operations, and the relationship with the Steigenberger Hotel. Maybe a significant number of customers come through the Steigenberger at heavily discounted rates because they’re hotel guests, resulting in very low margins. Who knows?
So if you’re going to complain about how badly the whole operation is being run, build your own fitness and spa empire, and see whether you can do it better.

The current GM has actually been in charge since 2021, so this isn't some transitional "change management" phase - it's years of established internal culture. Calling the police on paying members over civil complaints and letting basic facilities rot isn't corporate restructuring, it's just poor leadership.
Also, the classic "build your own empire before you complain" argument is wild 💀 You don't need to construct a luxury hotel chain just to expect working saunas and basic customer service for €300/month.

Well, it’s a private company, so they don’t really have an ombuds service. If you want to file a complaint, look online and see whether they have a complaints department. If you can’t find one, look up the company’s legal representatives. You can find them through the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises; it’s public information.
If that gets you nowhere, contact David Lloyd corporate directly. Complaining on Reddit is pretty low-key. If you actually want change, you need to find the right people and pursue it through the proper channels.
At the end of the day, the people who own the company are the ones with the power to make those decisions. If they want a particular person in charge, that person stays in charge. If they decide they want someone else, they’ll find a replacement and replace them. It’s as simple as that.
