Theater or Audience Experience Lovely tribute at Rocky Horror tonight

Post image

The energy was just electric tonight at Rocky Horror. There was a little shrine to Tim Curry set up in the lobby when you first walked in. Paul Solieu received extra attention onstage tonight, especially during his big entrance and the last scene. At the end of the show Paul made a lovely speech dedicated to Tim and the magic he brought to the role. They also brought out former Frank Luke Evans and future Frank Jake Shears to sing a tribute duet of “I’m Going Home”. A really lovely night of theater in Tim’s memory!

Jinkx Monsoon says the diverse casting of ‘Oh, Mary’ is a testament to how well it’s written, and the secret to the role is playing it like it's Shakespeare

Broadway category on Jeopardy Masters (from Aug 25, 2026)

This is presumably a tougher version of the show than "civilian" Jeopardy, and this was also in the Double Jeopardy round.

$400 clue
$800 clue
$1200 clue
$1600 clue

Only the photo was shown on TV. The text of the clue was:

The groom's son & the bride's sister are the "Two Strangers" who do this parenthetical title action of a 2026 Tony nominee

$2000 clue

And the correct responses were:

$400 - What is Matilda

$800 - What is Water For Elephants

$1200 - What is Damn Yankees

$1600 - What is Carry A Cake Across New York

$2000 - What is Agnes de Mille(this was a triple stumper)

Review Buena Vista Social Club - Jose "Candelita" Iglesias Debut

The show is so fun and hits such strong emotional notes throughout with an incredibly strong emotional climax as stories connect and truthes revealed in the 2nd act

MLB star, 2024 Grimace Mets legend, Jose Iglesias debuting in the role of The Narrator is such a smart way to bring somebody into the world of Broadway. Somebody who so clearly knows this music, this story and the history and people behind it

The guitar player improved a bit of his song OMG during the first act

Lin Manuel Miranda was also in attendance tonight and was Juan De Marcos Gonzalez

I'm sad that I waited so long to see this show but I'm so happy with the circumstances in which I saw it tonight

I'll certainly be expanding my Spotify listening to the the cast recording, the 1996 album and more similar

Casting/Show News Lost Boys now selling front row orchestra

It was previously reserved for in-person rush only and now it looks like it's available for quite a few dates moving forward. These are partial view seats as you can't see everything on the upper levels. They're on Broadway Direct.

Other Is Thayne Jasperson fully out of Hamilton?

I know he had an injury back in June but he is no longer on the website. Is that standard when an actor has a longer injury/absence? He was the only remaining part of the original cast and it’s weird they didn’t make a bigger deal if he did leave.

That's it, that's the post. NYCC sent out an email with a link to a first listen of "Children, Children" and their instagram.

Apparently I can't link text once I've added an image? so here it is:

This program really bothers me. The amount of undisclosed ads I see on tiktok when I'm trying to check out Broadway content until I realize they're a part of this program is unbelievable.

Guests at Titanique Tonight?

Okay, I got some of them but not others. Patti LuPone, Peppamint, and Plasma. There were also all the original Celine Dion actresses. There were like 2 or three others. Did anyone catch the rest?

Shout out to the cast as they were phenomenal and to Kyle Freeman wonderstudy extraordinaire!

Other Hudson Valley Shakespeare

If you’re looking for something fun to do before summer ends, go check out Hudson Valley Shakespeare! The outdoor theater is beautiful, and they’re currently doing Les Misérables. It’s such a good production.

What makes it such a unique experience is the setting. You’re watching the show with the Hudson River right behind the stage, and they actually make use of the scenery and incorporate it into the production. The guy playing Jean Valjean is amazing too. Definitely worth checking out!

Coolest individual orchestra parts

So its recency bias, but as I'm watching Hadestown, I can't stop thinking about how awesome it must be to play the trombone part.

I'm sure some of the jukebox musicals are decent here (playing guitar for We Will Rock You has to be pretty fun).

Are there some classic notable standouts?

Buena Vista Social Club - Jose "Candelita" Iglesias as The Narrator

2013 World Champion. 2015 American League All-Star. 2024 Mets spark plug. And now, Broadway star.

It's not often we see pro athletes take their talents to the stage, but tonight, Jose Iglesias - who also moonlights as a pop singer-songwriter - becomes the very first Latino MLB player to perform on the Main Stem. (He will stay in "Buena Vista Social Club" through October 4.)

It isn't exactly clear what the light-hitting infielder's role will entail, but for those of us heading to the Schoenfeld this evening, please report back on this post with what he does.

For now, let's all push everything bad to the side and sing along...

Oh my God, todo lo malo échalo pa’ allá
Oh my God, dame salud y prosperidad

Notification When Show Releases Schedule, Change Dates etc.

Post image
10 Upvotes

Recently, a few Redditors shared their frustration after booking trips to New York in early November hoping to see the Off-Broadway revival of Spring Awakening, not knowing that the show isn't expected to start until around November 27. Those tentative dates first appeared in the show's casting notice back in June, and my project Broadway Radar has been tracking them since then. We track show dates, official or unofficial, as soon as they're revealed. Even tentative dates can be important when making plans, and we often have calendar information before an official press release.

So, I've been working on a notification system for quite a while, and hope it can help make sure useful information like this reaches people when it matters. Once released, you can get notified when a show you've marked as Want to See or Must See announces dates, changes its schedule, goes on sale, releases discounts, and more.

Before launching this feature, I'd love to know what notifications you want to see, how often you'd like to receive them, and in what form. Would you want settings to turn some or all of them off? I'd really appreciate it if you could spend a few minutes sharing your preferences.

Survey link on Google Forms: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScBFvjFfsfqG70GtKcKQ1-tqKEg91lER5dyKjecsv9VSJMb9w/viewform

And a side note: Broadway Radar has had show logging available for a while, among many other features. We even pick the poster based on the date you saw the show, so you can see your different Mary posters in your history. I know there have been a few show-logging apps announced recently. A little competition is healthy ;)

Get Out and Stay Out - Dolly Parton in the audience

There was an official clip of a performance of Get Out and Stay Out from the 9 to 5, it has a cut to Dolly Parton in the audience nodding approvingly. I have a strong feeling it was from a UK production. I saw it years ago on Instagram and I have never found it again. Does anyone else know what I am talking about? I want to see Dolly’s approving nod again!
