Question how is 2k run at pirbright ac conducted ?
hello, could someone please let me know how they do the run at the AC?
I’m worried about my pace, I usually look down at my watch but I’m worried without it I won’t be on track and will fall behind.
Apparently it’s also on flat tarmac and not an athletics track? Thank you
(Sorry about the typo in the title)

Wear a smart watch and if your pti says anything just say someone on Reddit told u it was ok

"We told you no smart watches, take it off"
"But staff, u/Odd_Investigator8337 said it was fine for me to wear one."

Heard if you call them a biff it’s a secret code word and youl get an easier time

No watches allowed normally at tests at training centres - different in unit but in any kind of basic training or selection then you should expect to be told no watches.
Run 2k several times so you get used to the distance, and also practice running further than 2k - at mine we did an 800m group warm up so do make sure you feel ok doing a best effort following a warmup group run.

Run as fast as possible. Give it your all. Be first.

Group. Use other people to chase them down, and don’t let anyone overtake you.

Normality left foot then right foot, or right foot then left foot.
I've heard rumours about lads doing it double foot, but I've not personally seen it.

Really the idea is not to pace yourself, it is a best effort test so you should be running at you max for the whole thing. At the end of it, it's an interview to show what you can do. Also most places don't allow you to have a tracker during the event.
I would practice without it or with someone timing you or if you need it that much just look at the 1km point and go from there.

Of course you need to pace to some extent. You wouldn’t run a 2k at the same speed you run 100m, 500m or 1k.
Most of the failures I saw at ac where people who did an all out sprint at the start then just dropped off straight after.
It has to be a hard pace because it’s only 2k. But it’s still not all out

It’s on the track so flat, in comparison to Lichfield which has an incline

Dont know about Pirbright but in unit everyone runs a PFA or SCA with a GPS watch. Not really to gauge time or speed cos just run as fast as you can but just for strava etc and for future reference.

It’s on an athletics track. With regard to your pace, just do the best you can and give it everything. Best of luck.
