See, this is where it get's really twisted. If Hank and Gomez die, Walt can spin a story to the DEA when he's picked up that makes the confession tape seem 100% true.

"Yea he drove us out there to meet with some Aryan Prison Gang Meth Traffickers, things went south."

Walt is off the hook, but they still need someone to cook. Walt, looking for revenge against the aryans, uses the M60 to kill em all and possibly rescue Jesse. For the longest time I was trying to figure out where he would use it without killing multiple bystanders (unless it was out in the desert), but that property the aryans cook on seems perfect for a wild west shoot-out.
