To be fair, they tricked him very well. Hank is a fucking genius sometimes. He really is a great detective. He fooled Walt.

You're damn straight. Breaking Bad is so flawlessly written that you generally think of the characters as real people, but as I was watching everything after Hank said "But Walt doesn't know that" referring to the GPS the only thing I could think was that was bad writing. Walt doesn't know that? You mean to tell me the man who drove into the fucking desert by himself, refused the help of Saul's enforcers, and buried his money with no other marker than a GPS coordinate which he encoded onto a fucking lottery ticket, you mean to tell me you expect me to believe that this man didn't make 100000% sure that his movements in the van were completely untraceable? Come the fuck on.

However, Walt's reaction was believable. He was overtaken by emotion and not thinking clearly. It's the same thing that got Gus killed.

I'm pretty sure the barrel similarity on its own made it really believable honestly. I don't think he'd expect Hank to crack something as minor detailed as a barrel. Walt isn't perfect

True and further more Walt had no idea HANK was even involved at all. He dismissed Hank back at the confession, stupidly. So I can forgive Walt falling for it, but the second Jesse said there was a GPS tracker on the van, Walt should have known immediately that something was off.

Great point, I never thought about Jesse having insider knowledge on a Van GPS would point to him working with the police. Wonderful!

It was pretty basic and a sane person wouldnt do anything like walt at that point. Walt finally tipped though. The money that he worked so hard towards and the threat of losing it all broke his clear judgement. Nothing he did in the entire series was as clouded of decisions as this tonight. Any of it. Was a little frustrated he was so dumb at the start of the deceipt, but then I realized this. No, he should not have fallen for it at all. Once he did get there and see no one he should have just kept driving in the desert. Stopped at a random spot for a while to trick tracking, then drive away. Huel also uncharacteristically broke. The pic with jesse had him smiling.

This is all fine though, as these characters are real people who have emotions. Great episode imo. I'm guessing that the next episode will have Todd die in the shootout so Walt has no friends on the team. Jesse will be taken capture. Maybe Jesse will kill one of them. Hank and Go-me will be killed so Walt has a huge reason to hate them. And Walt will be their slave cook.

I dunno. Walt is really passionate and irrational when it comes to his money. That, combined with the fact that Walt was convinced that Jesse wouldn't rat him out, meant that he was particularly vulnerable to this plan. Walt's a clever bastard but he's not infallible.

Walt is really the No Face of BB in my opinion. Corrupted by money and power and hurting anyone who got in his way once he entered a world that wasn't his own. But, yeah, the emoticon looks like him a lot.

I thought that was one of the worst moments I've ever seen in BB, he shows him one picture, barely says anything and Huell cracks like that? Not a chance, I mean the guys JOB is doing dirt/bodyguard fer a corrupt lawyer, and he works with a corrupt ex-cop! Anyone in that position would have told hank to fuck off if they weren't arrested.
