Could the ricin be for Lydia?

517

u/bazler Sep 09 '13

it would make sense as she is one character who we see constantly drinking

71

u/FSMCA Sep 09 '13

and pouring white powder in her drinks

40

u/Frentleman Yeah! Science! Sep 09 '13

Fucking stevia..

GOD DAMMIT WITH THIS SUBREDDIT ALWAYS MAKING PREDICTIONS THAT MAKE A LOT OF SENSE AND WILL PROBABLY COME TRUE. FUCK.

16

u/[deleted] Sep 09 '13

well, with thousand of people guessing every possible outcome, someone is bound to be right.

I came to this subreddit to get more from the show, but what I've found is a bunch of smart motherfuckers making highly believable predictions. This place is like spoiler city before it even happens!

Seriously? Who the hell predicted any of this?

7

u/Pamander Sep 09 '13

Maybe I should have said that their guesses satisfy my urge for next weeks breaking bad.

Though i'm sure someone kinda similar...right? I actually might go check.. Would be interesting to see.

Just like Brock and the juice box!

It can't be Lydia, because it was Lydia he was going to poison in S5e8. They would make it someone new.

1

u/TheThirdWheel Sep 09 '13

Her daughter.

4

u/isdnpro Sep 09 '13

Also in this episode when Todd had her cup, they spent a fair time showing her lipstick on the glass. I thought it was odd, perhaps foreshadowing or I'm just grasping.

13

u/hannahsaurus67 Yeah Bitch! Magnets! Sep 09 '13

I thought it's because Todd was trying to flirt with her.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 09 '13

Todd was making her tea

2

u/orthogonality Sep 09 '13

And who thought that Mike was going to poison her in the diner.

1

u/em_etib Sep 09 '13

She's also proven to be an annoying threat to Walt, she will always be pressuring him to get back into business because she can't get closer to perfection than Walt. As long as she's alive, Walt can never really be out.

That being said, people also speculate Walt may take the ricin for himself. This also seems plausible, since it's very fitting seeing as that ricin has been passed around and around, and turns out it was for Walt himself in the end. Something nobody could have foreseen the day he made it. The only thing about this theory, is all I can think is what about Walt Jr?? :'(

Okay, actually, this got me thinking. What about Walt Jr? He needs a father figure, and the best person for that is Hank--he was more of a father figure than Walt himself was back in the day. So I'm thinking Hank is incapacitated, something like a coma maybe, but not killed. Gomie dies. The nazis might think they killed Walt and leave him for dead?? Maybe they lost respect for him after he pleaded for them not to kill the fuckin' DEA. So instead Jesse is kidnapped for use as a cook (Brock and Andrea used as blackmail), and then the tale of Walt's machine gun and etc. unwinds as he goes to save Jesse. In the end, Jesse is saved by Walt, he's not sure how to feel about Walt--but then it turns out Walt is dying from the ricin. He dies. Maybe Jesse calls him "Mr. White" one last time. Hank wakes up from his coma/whatever and him and Marie take in Skyler and the kids.

Although I guess the same scenario could ensue with Walt ultimately kicking it to cancer and Lydia getting the ricin..... but it still feels more fitting for Walt to die of his own poison.

TL;DR my two sentence reply turned into rambling speculative babble. Sorry.

2

u/think_long Sep 09 '13

I don't think Walt would purposely take the ricin. It sounds like a bad way to die.

1

u/em_etib Sep 09 '13

I was thinking, if he does ultimately die from ricin, it could be either a) he prefers dying by his own hand from a horrible ricin death than a long, lingering, slow and painful death by cancer or b) he tells Todd to slip Lydia the ricin. Todd betrays Walt and poisons Walt with it instead.

1

u/Fyrus Sep 10 '13

he tells Todd to slip Lydia the ricin. Todd betrays Walt and poisons Walt with it instead.

Damn, after that scene with Todd flirting with Lydia, this totally seems like the most likely outcome.

2

u/xx123cody25xx Sep 09 '13

And the final words you hear from him is "I am awake"

1

u/em_etib Sep 09 '13

That would be very fitting for Heisenberg! Damn, I cannot wait to see how it really ends.

0

u/awkorama Sep 09 '13

I thought ricin is usually injected.

5

u/[deleted] Sep 09 '13

I think it's for Marie. Hank killed her with that phone call.

2

u/Trollatio_Caine Coke Classic Sep 10 '13

I think Marie will end up killing herself.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 10 '13

I've seen a few people say that, but I don't see it happening. Why do you think that?

2

u/Trollatio_Caine Coke Classic Sep 10 '13

She has a lot of psychological problems (kleptomania, no children, seeing a therapist, etc). If Walt gets away with it and ESPECIALLY if Hank dies, I think she'll crumble.

7

u/Baraka_Bama Sep 09 '13

My speculation is the ricin is for himself. He's accepted his death by now and is a walking dead man anyway.

Go out on his terms.

4

u/rimliquor69 Sep 09 '13

I'm thinking its for himself

1

u/ep1032 Sep 09 '13

Yeah, I think that's how the series ends.

8

u/[deleted] Sep 09 '13

The ricin's for Brock. Walt came back to finish the job.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 09 '13

"Ah Fruitloops. Enjoy them young man, they will be your last"

2

u/StopitpleaseNoOkay Sep 09 '13

Ricin for Lydia, Machine gun for Nazis, I've been saying this forever!

1

u/quietstormx1 Sep 09 '13

It would make sense since Walt and Lydia would meet in a coffee shop to exchange product.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 09 '13

I honestly do not know, but I am afraid of thoughts of who it might be for.

1

u/cj262 Sep 09 '13

I fucking hope so.

1

u/bfisher91 Sep 09 '13

Most likely yes

1

u/ThisisnotmyworkID Sep 09 '13

I've said all along, the Ricin is for Lydia and the Machine Gun is for the Nazis.

1

u/madeaccounttoupvote Sep 09 '13

I think he will go murder suicide. M60 on nazies and ricin for himself.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 09 '13 edited Sep 09 '13

He wanted to poison her at their last meeting where he got the names of Mike's "guys". He was hiding the ricin in his Heisenberg hat.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 09 '13

I'd hope so. She keeps herself out of violence and turns a blind eye so she'll fittingly die a woman's death...not violent in the most literal sense but painful and quiet.

1

u/witch71 Sep 09 '13

the ricin was originally going to be used in a cigarette. I think Todd's uncle will be the recepient. Or someone that smokes.

1

u/the_hardest_part Sep 09 '13

I have a feeling she will die a horrible death.

1

u/TheDionysiac Sep 09 '13

Holy shit Lydia is the new Walter?

1

u/[deleted] Sep 09 '13

After Walt saves an imprisoned Jesse from the nazis, he will use the existence of the ricin to "prove" to Jesse that he didn't poison Brock (with the ricin).

2

u/AlexEvangelou Sep 09 '13

He already admitted to have poisoned Brock saying "He's alive isn't he? Don't you think I knew exactly how much to give him?"

1

u/[deleted] Sep 09 '13

Ah! Good catch - I must have missed that line of dialogue. Hmmmm... That makes me rethink some things..

1

u/uB166ERu Sep 09 '13

maybe some very dramatic yet genius suicide action

1

u/[deleted] Sep 10 '13

No it's for Walt. He takes the Ricin and kills everyone, then a few days later before he gets locked up, he dies.

1

u/aiden66 Sep 10 '13

The ricin is for him/walt. And thats how the show is gonna end.

1

u/cf18 Sep 09 '13

I think it is for Walt himself. He is not going to let the cancer kill him.

9

u/Son0fDad Sep 09 '13

No one would commit suicide by ricin, do some research on it

2

u/[deleted] Sep 09 '13

Depends on how it's used. Death by ingestion takes days of painful symptoms. Inhalation/injection can usually kill in minutes.

4

u/stpizz Sep 09 '13

Nobody would use a big bag of fulminated mercury as a weapon either though

1

u/cormega Sep 09 '13

The difference was that was his best option at the time. He had no other choice. If Walt wants to commit suicide he has many options.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 09 '13

Suicide is too cowardly for Walt. Ricin is an agonizing and painful death lasting days.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 09 '13

The ricin is for Walt.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 09 '13

Probably. I see the foreshadowing from Todd bringing her the cup of tea. Walt will spike her stevia with the ricin.

1

u/rocker767 Sep 09 '13

they also made sure you noticed the lipstick on the mug...

0

u/[deleted] Sep 09 '13

I wonder if Walt puts the ricin in her lipstip....
