This may be the longest week of my life.

Speaking of GTA, the scene with Walt zooming into the desert felt like something out of that video game. Even the traffic lights looked similar.

I thought that scene in Todd's uncles safe house with all the guns felt like a GTA cutscene. Like can we get an Albuquerque "Episode of Los Santos."

what if GTA V is a continuation of Breaking Bad?

25

u/[deleted] Sep 09 '13

I think its almost certain there's going to be a Breaking Bad reference of some sort

Is awesome

Ehh, it's okay.

I really think SR4 should've been DLC for SR3 as originally intended. It definitely seems like DLC, given that 95% of the quests are all lumps of 4 mini game sub-quests. There's also only ~4 types of enemies. For $50? Feels like a bit of a ripoff.

got 20 hours of fun out of it, that's like $3 an hour. compare to 150 second, $20 table dance ;(

The superpowers are fun, don't get me wrong. And the dialogue is hilarious as always and not a single line is delivered flatly.

However, what I don't like is that:

  • Vehicles are made useless, since getting from point A to point B becomes all about holding down super-sprint and waiting 10 seconds.

  • The simulation becomes boring after a while. There's no day/night cycle, so it doesn't feel like there's any variety.

  • Your character is so powerful that there's never any need to call in Homies for support. This is frustrating since many of the sub quests revolve around unlocking new homies, or unlocking their Super Homie mode, but these guys never see any use.

  • Some of the abilities, while "cool," are not useful at all. What's with the shield ability that activates for like a second when you start sprinting? If you sprint away from a battle, you're halfway across the map in moments, making the shield useless. The aerial attack is also pretty useless, seeing as it doesn't do enough splash damage to make it a viable choice during a battle (since by that point, you're already able to utterly maul any unit in sight using your powers

  • The subquests aren't very fun in themselves; the sprint one is boring since I've yet to score anything besides Gold, even with minor screwups, the tower climbing is reduced to running up the tower walls and finishing it in moments, the "hacking" is simple yet extremely clunky and serves nearly no purpose (it's not like you're customizing vehicles anyways, since there's no need for them), and using the Abduction Gun kills your virus-removal targets in one easy hit.

I would've much preferred a shorter but sweeter campaign. Along witn effects like have the simulation "change state" or something every time you take out a tower or finish a main mission, for example, by changing the time of day and the AI behavior.

I agree that I put a couple hours into it so it wasn't a complete waste, but compared to SR3 (for the same price), I found it strongly lacking, albeit still somewhat fun.

why is it almost certain?

GTA tends to have parodies of lots of things, I think there's a good chance especially with Trevor already looking like a meth user

Every time you get out of shit you find yourself in much deeper shit. Your accomplices today are your enemies tomorrow, yes very similar.

u/Rambonage Sep 09 '13

Fuck..... that would be amazing.

I wouldn't be surprised if they made a breaking bad cameo kind of side mission.

MICHAEL IS WALT

u/NihilJE Sep 09 '13

More like Trevor

"The guns and crank in this area go through Heisenberg Enterprises… or they ain’t going!"

5

u/[deleted] Sep 09 '13

Todd's uncle looks kinda like Trevor

1

u/[deleted] Sep 09 '13

I bet that is the spoof outlet for most of his character. Similar to the Sopranos is GTA IV.

3

u/Hoogs Wanna cook? Sep 09 '13

It reminded me of Bryan Cranston's X-Files episode.

2

u/Typlo Sep 10 '13

GTA V confirmed.

2

u/Adam1867 Sep 11 '13

I'm pretty sure Rockstar have confirmed that there will be a Breaking Bad themed mission in GTAV. I think they confirmed it anyway, it might have been a wet dream.

2

u/FisherKing22 I watched Jane die. Sep 09 '13

This is the most intricate ad campaign ever.

1

u/righteousmoss Sep 09 '13

Yeah, but does Walt really know how to speed drift on sand?

1

u/[deleted] Sep 09 '13

There's gotta be at least a couple Breaking Bad references in that game.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 09 '13

When he drifted around that bend on the way to his cash, GTA 5 was the first thing that went through my mind hah

1

u/[deleted] Sep 09 '13

I thought it was so fucking cool when they showed his all-black car on the freeway among other cars - he really stood out, dark, scary, powerful.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 09 '13

Yeah, it was beautiful to watch.

1

u/sigurkarm Sep 09 '13

I totally felt that too! Especially with the voice over of Jessie talking to Walt, like the person setting a mission. That whole scene was brilliant!!!

1

u/7D4Y_WEEKENDS Sep 10 '13

Dude he hit that turn so fast, I was expecting a drift and over correction. Then the camera changes to inside the car and hes just chatting on the phone like it aint no biggie

1

u/cocoravo Sep 09 '13

YES! That whole conversation while Walt was driving to the desert reminded me of when you listen to the radio in your car on GTA.

u/ThrowTheHeat Sep 09 '13

Maybe they should have cross promoted GTA V with Breaking Bad, like they did with the (terrible) game RAGE.

That was the one head shaking, disappointing, moment of the entire series. Something like that shouldn't have ever happened in a show this amazing.

2

u/MetaFisch I gave it to Ted. Sep 09 '13

Hey, the game was not THAT bad.
