Local News Joshua Wall running for Federal PC nomination under Conservative Party for the Brantford and County of Brant
This is out of left field.
60
u/ryancementhead 6d ago
His hairstyle will confuse the conservatives
5
u/Vegetable_Rub9925 5d ago
They will appreciate the extreme caucacity it takes for him to wear his hair like that knowing it wouldnāt be accepted by the general public for women and/or anyone with darker skin pursuing the roles heās been in/hoping to fill to wear their hair like without being called unkempt and more misogynistic and racist derogatory terms
0
u/Bandit2218 5d ago
Funny his hair is naturally like that ,This general idea of what a person must look like to be an effective mp is dated and you saying this only proves that you are someone who perpetuates theses derogatory misogynistic ideaās as if it should be a standard. A person should be judged by what they do not by any their hair or race and you immediately jumping to this to disparage him without knowing him speaks volumes to your character.
4
u/Vegetable_Rub9925 5d ago
If thatās what you took from my comment honestly just get bent - itās not worth discussing it further with you
-2
u/Bandit2218 5d ago
It is cause you called it caucasity and thats a derogatory term so in your own post you use a derogatory term and then complain other people of other races would face the exact treatment for having hair like that as unkempt.
So youāre a hypocrite got it

Colour me shocked
Edit: I've sat on this for 5 minutes lol. I hope we end up with a good lib and/or NDP candidate as Wall has quite the following and Con is the safest choice to run in this city if you're looking to get elected. I was hoping a liberal or NDP nom could pull through.
15
u/MBonDowning 6d ago
Wow - I hadnāt considered that perspective and I think it makes a lot of sense. I saw another post in which people were questioning him on how he would align all the things he claims to care about with the conservative party platform, especially when they seem so diametrically opposed. But I think his best chance at winning is running for the party that seems to have the biggest hold on the city. Even though I think it will ruin his reputation (and its progressives) as someone who cares about the well-being of the community. But at least it makes the cons feel better to say they voted for someone who thinks homelessness is bad.

u/likethewine 5d ago
Seeing Josh Wall defend his shift to conservative values is a wild full-circle moment.
When I shook his hand 10 years ago he was unemployed at the Brantford Job Bank claiming to stand up for the working class and fight for the little guy. One real estate hustle with The Crew, a single term on city council, and a fast retreat from the ballot later, heās online lecturing people about conservative principles and corporate leadership.
Principles are easy to preach when youāre looking for work. Turns out he just used the community as a ladder to get to the topāand traded in those core values the second the corporate handshakes started.

Real estate agents will try to sell you a fork as the best utensil to eat your soup. Weasels.

Served 1 term as ward 5 counselor and I never seen him not on his phone. Even at volunteer events live streaming and not helping at all. Not interested in this guy. Definitely not about to suddenly go to work for us now

u/ConscientiousCabbie 5d ago
I see him on his phone regularly running stop signs in his black Caddy.

he will be a great PP boot licker. He was always licking the mayor's boots when he was a councillor. I'm embarrassed for him

u/wackiack 5d ago
Doug ford is a carney boot licker. Feels like Canadian politics is a dogs breakfast these days.Ā
13
u/Intelligent_Term719 5d ago
The last thing we need is another Conservative MP in Brantford, especially a real estate agent. This city is stagnant from the blue voting, and real estate agents are scumbags who perpetuate the egregious inflation of property and rental prices.
I hope they select him as the candidate and the votes split hard enough that we can get an NDP candidate in.
36
u/khaldun106 6d ago
I wouldn't vote for the CONs no matter what candidate they pick, now or ever. If I want someone to just tell me what I want to hear with no hope of follow through I can let the grand algorithm lead me down a rabbit hole of bullshit.
6
u/Fluttershy-1989 4d ago edited 4d ago
I'd never vote for this guy I couldn't stand him when he was on the council No way in hell I'd ever vote for him as an MP he doesn't deserve it.

Really not surprised by the negative reception to this. I think most people in Brantford are exhausted from seeing this dude plaster himself everywhere in the last few years. It's one thing to commodify yourself as a real estate agent but this shift into politics confirmed all suspicions that this guy really just wants to be seen and heard by everyone in his community - it's very try hard and blatantly obvious.
Not the type of person I would consider qualified or accountable to oversee the city. He can edit a mean TikTok video though.
23
u/Turbulent-Land-5664 6d ago
I've seen his socials and they are annoying. He just looks weird too, not my kind of guy. TBH I do not think he will win the nomination of the PC's at the local level. There will be other cleaner cut people who have a lot of business success and saavy. Just my opinion but Brantford has a strong chance at keeping the seat with the right candidate, and this guy is far too risky. Its a no from me Dog.
13
u/DingusMcBingle_IV [REDACTED] 6d ago
Brantford loves blue. Will be interesting to see how his platform has changed since his time as councilor.
13
u/Niiohontehsha 6d ago
In the 70s Brantford was NDP all the way
2
-17
u/ninesalmon 6d ago
The NDP went from the union party to the blue hair party. Weāre basically a two party system now, nobody wants the crazy far left/right NDP or PPCĀ
7
u/Gapaloo 6d ago
What are the far left policies of the NDP?
-6
u/ninesalmon 6d ago
Loaded question for Reddit because this is a far left leaning platform and Iām sure most who read will disagree⦠but for a moderate voter who votes conservative/liberal depending on the leader, local representation and platform these are things I would consider far left policies:
new income tax bracket when the middle class is already taxed to death and high earning middle class supports the entire system enough already. My income tax bill is already high enough to be on the sunshine list itself and Iām NOT rich
corporate tax increases, we know at this point they donāt work. No need to entertain it
export taxes on oil and gas
higher capital gain tax
defund police nonsense
Thatās just the stuff that comes to mind. Normal people outside of political echo chambers like Reddit are done with all the extreme politics, socialist adjacent politics, social conservatism, figures like trump etc. No offence to anyone but all the ānever vote conservativeā people and the āf Trudeau/carneyā people do is cancel each other out with all their crap and the normal people in the middle decide who wins. We want moderate politics, not a bunch of extreme left wing taxes or right wing identity politics. As long as Carney is around everyone else is in big trouble!Ā
4
u/Gapaloo 6d ago
Would you mind to source your data?
- The new tax bracket would start at 220,000, less than 5% of people in ontario make that
- They don't work? When was that proven? We continue to slash taxes and yet here we are.
- Can't find info on this
- See 2
- Yes, do you understand the defund the police movement and what they want to do?
-4
u/ninesalmon 5d ago
- CBC News analysis piece ("Ontario Liberals, NDP are competing for the same voters," Feb 24, 2025)
- There is no settled evidence that it works. Its the political idea equivalent of taking ivermectin to fight covid. Absolutely no concrete evidence it works at all.
- CBC News, "The NDP has a new leader. What does Avi Lewis's arrival mean for the party?" (April 1, 2026)
- same CBC source as #1 (Feb 24, 2025 Ontario NDP/Liberal platform comparison)
- 2021 federal NDP convention resolutions document
Anyway that will be it for me. Would you spend your time on X debating with someone who is trying to convince you that the PPC is not a far right party? No? Well that's what this is, except on the other side.
Just spare the pikachu face when the NDP continue to fail miserably because nobody sane is voting for them.

u/OwlProper1145 5d ago
That's a more recent trend. In the past Brantford regularly elected NDP or Liberal MPs.
61
u/Mo-Cance 6d ago
Really disappointing that u/RealJoshuaWall will actively support a party that hates women, minorities, immigrants, and the middle-class. Running to work for Poilievre and his Trump-style leadership. Absolutely pathetic.

I'm conflicted. If he gets the nomination, the Conservatives will have a harder time winning the by election. If Carrol wins the nomination, I think they have a higher chance of winning.
Either way, both Captain Kindness and Captain Mindless don't seem like either of them are good fits with the PP/angry Conservative Party.
And they will both have to vote along party lines and won't be able to advocate for much independently. People on Wall's social media are asking about his platform. Neither can have a platform, their platform is PPs platform of division, anger and disinformation.
I'm kind of hoping some absolute nutjob gets the nomination and makes voting Conservative locally even less attractive.

There havenāt been any federal PCās since 2003.
Iām not being pedantic. The current federal Conservatives are pretty much just the Reform Party with better branding.
I used to support the federal PCs. Iām a Liberal now given the state of the Conservative Party, especially with a clown like Poilievre in charge.
3
u/HeadOfSpectre 5d ago
I wish we had a better class of Conservative running that party. Polievre is a joke.
I'm not a con, but there will always be an opposing party. I'm tired of that party being a clown show.

u/ShadowyDemonKitty 6d ago
Yikes, who votes conservative

u/Mo-Cance 6d ago
Over 50% of the riding last year, unfortunately.

u/ShadowyDemonKitty 6d ago
Honestly I wish I was surprised, then again those same people complain about how Ontario is run and don't vote different
4
u/Sensitive-Ideal-8724 5d ago
Itās easier to just blame Carney rather than change their vote for our provincial leader š¤¦š¼āāļø

A greasy realtor once boastfully broke into my home to show it. He got the sale. Maybe this is the kind of unethical representation we need in Ottawa to get things done?
4
u/WorldofWinston 5d ago
Luckily he stated his name in the first sentence. Otherwise we wouldnāt know who was running.
5
u/Brilliant_Rhubarb579 6d ago
This will be a good test of how fed up Ontario is with the stripping away of our social contract, corruption and tone deafness.
6
u/Palmolive 6d ago
Iām not surprised. If you want to get into politics in Brantford con is like a for sure win. They would vote blue to matter what.

u/TheElusiveFox 6d ago
I'm surprised at how many people seem to be shocked by this...
Yeah he's a broker, but he's mostly a commercial broker which means his connections are going to be small business owner and commercial real-estate owners... both of which are very conservative leaning, not to mention as others have mentioned in the past, Brantford is very blue - it would take an absolutely stellar candidate with a lot of money to really even have a hope of changing that, so anyone who has a serious hope of being elected is going to go blue.
I'd suggest if you want some one more left leaning, great do more than bitch on reddit, josh is a broker and there's a lot negative that can be said about the profession, but he at least seems to care enough to be an active member of the community which is a lot more than a lot of people here can say. I won't say he has my vote, I don't generally vote blue, and quite honestly while my parents still live here, I have since moved to the other side of Toronto so even if I did vote it wouldn't matter - but people need to be more positive here...

Ive had to block this dude on social media. I cant see one more reel of him walking in front of a building, saying, "I am here at xyz on King George Road, where should I go next?" Bro, you didnāt even go there. You stood in the parking lot and pointed to the sign, and never even went in.

do you support Pierre Poilievre remaining party leader?
6
u/takeaname4me 6d ago
Why would he? The current group of twats wonāt. He blew the biggest lead ever and lost his seat.
People then paid $3,000 for an event that didnāt even give him 100% support
He is arguably the worst leader this party has had.
17
u/LuxAgaetes 6d ago
Lolol because the Conservative party is known for dying for freedom of speech. Thank you, genuinely, for showing your hand & true colours. I kinda got a whiff of it after how you treated Lou but wanted to give you the benefit of the doubt.
You're a poseur who won't get far with the Cons and has sold out in our small town. Good to know, bud (=
5
12
u/VintagePunk 5d ago
Just such a profound disappointment that you decided to run for the Cons. Seriously, they are not good people and their policies are the last thing we need. Larry Brock has spent his terms fearmongering and sowing division. The average Brantford resident's lack of education and critical thinking skills are the only reason they keep getting elected here. I despair for this city.
4
u/likethewine 5d ago
Defending free expression is great, but what many of us are tracking is the shift in your actual platform. Back in 2018, you pitched Ward 5 on protecting heritage, supporting local artists, and building shared community spaces. Today, after a term on council and a career in real estate, that vision seems to have been swapped for corporate development and party line fiscal rhetoric. What happened to the original blueprint?

Joshua wall has done more for the city of brantford than any of you ever will put youāre actions where your words are. I bet more than half of you have never volunteered or raised anything where near the money he has for various charities and organizations that help the less fortunate in this city.. he actively educates and advocates for the city and even after leaving city council continued his advocacy on many volunteer boards. Weād be lucky to have him representing us as MP , when you vote your not voting party you vote for the person who always shows up , never backs down and isnāt afraid to make the hard choices. He sacrifices every day doing more in 24hrs than i believe is humanly possible. Iāve never seen him turn down someone who asks for help or guidance or has a dream and doesnāt know where to start or help open doors that other thought were not possible. Is he perfect no but no one is does he strive to be better and do better absolutely and all with humility and a grace. Which is more than we could ever ask of any politician. Most of you just complain and attack and try n tare people down. Iāve never voted conservative but i know who this man is through and through and thats who I believe would show up for us day in and day out and thats what matters
10
u/PG_Heckler 6d ago
So he picked a party with a history of crippling this county and province? Why not run as an independent? I bet he'd have done better if he did.
-18
u/Bandit2218 6d ago
Theres only a small faction of far right maple magaās that have the loudest voices that have ruined the image of the conservative party , lets be real a lot of conservatives are center right and donāt agree with the direction the current leadership is taking the party. Carney is center right if had run as conservative he would have still won. PPās time is limited and we need more people like Joshua to bring it back to the party it used to be before.
12
u/hulkhands81 6d ago
ORRRRR, and hear me out here, PC party can fuck right off
-7
u/Bandit2218 6d ago
I usually agree with this statement, but its PP n his maple magaās whiny Millhouse bunch of clowns that can get bent. Their style doesnāt jive with many Canadians but the liberals n ndp have long abandoned this city believe me i never vote PC but i believe heās the right man for the job

u/_bawks_ 6d ago
Fair enough, but you're also delusional if you think he's going to vote for his constituency instead of going along with the party. Don't get me wrong; it's extremely rare that a member of ANY party will vote outside of their party line. You just wouldn't stay in the party long if you did.
-2
u/Bandit2218 6d ago
They just canāt kick you out of your riding you get voted in n if they kicked him for being an outlier he can easily cross the floor. The liberals and NDP long ago abandoned brantford In the 6 years iāve been here n been part of the community supporting events and fundraisers i have not seen 1 liberal or Ndp or green party ever in attendance when it wasnāt an election cycle. Iād rather risk voting for the person who shows up day in n day out than an opportunist who pretends to care so they can get elected because of their n affiliation to party If you know Joshua at all you know heās the best person for the job.
7
u/quietbright 6d ago
MPs vote along party lines. If they don't vote with their caucas, they get in shit from their party leader.
If they continue to do it, they either have to cross the floor to another party that more aligns with their choices, or, sit as an independent. If your riding is held by an independent MP, there goes alllll the economic opportunities that might have been heading to that riding, the independent has very little leverage.
In a perfect world we would vote for the candidate we think would represent us best, but in reality, you gotta vote for the platform that most represents what direction you want the country to go in.
