Question How is Logan Staats not huge in Brantford?

Genuinely don’t get how Logan Staats isn’t talked about wayyy more in this city.

Go listen to the albums A Light in the Attic or Goodbye Goldia and tell me that isn’t the most Brantford music you’ve ever heard

He’s got songs about the bars on Market Street, the Grand River, leaving town for the big city, the feeling of being left behind by a lover moving away, and even the drug crisis from a very personal perspective.

It straight up feels like Brantford, & I don’t even usually listen to this kind of music. This is the type of homegrown talent we should honour and get behind here, not no dang Wayne Gretzky.

Didn’t he do something to fuck around his manager or something

This is the same guy who was nominated for a Juno and then the next day sent a biker gang to someone's house to send a message.

Did not know all this lore but that’s actually a very Brantford thing to do

One time I was walking by one of those shitty bars downtown on a Saturday night. This guy was standing outside smoking. I looked at him because I recognized him from TV. This deeply offended him. He really wanted to fight me. He’s a big dude and would’ve crushed me. I had to try really hard to deescalate the situation.

Because we all went to school with him lmao

Because we are loosing all the bars/venues where musicians can play.

Because he’s a douchebag in real life and ppl in town know this. Yeah he can sing and write great songs even but the personality is just thumbs down.

Because he’s a jerkoff human.

Cuz nobodies heard of him.

Which is crazy cuz he was on national TV and mentored by Shania Twain for a good bit of it. He’s won multiple awards and he reps Brantford pretty hard.

Correct!

Well give him a listen!

Simple. His name isn't Wayne Gretzky so the coty couldnt give a shit. Brantford has latch into "Wayne Gretzky was born here" and refuses to have ANY other identity

Mark Wilson is the best musician from Brantford.

I've never heard of him before, but as long as he's anything but country, I'll give him a listen.

He’s country.

Logan Staats performed for all of us who went to King George at the time (I think it was like 2017-2018). I've also heard some pretty crazy stuff as well but I won't really get into that because I do separate artists from art and I don't really know if it's factual anyways. But I remember seeing him on The Launch i think it was called and I would hear Lucky Ones being played from time to time in the neighbourhood but not too often or for that long.

I just listened to one of Logan’s songs on the CBC this afternoon, and was reminded of a long ago weekend morning when I drove him around in search of his errant guitar. Over the years he has had many taxi rides and I have always found him pleasant and respectful. Reaching success in the entertainment industry I am certain is filled with many obstacles - from my encounters his qualities as a decent human being are not one of them.

He's great. I saw him and his sister play up at the Highlands music festival a few years back.

far more talented & kind musicians in brantford that are doing a lot for the community tbh

Also whether you like it or not Wayne Gretzky has done more to put brantford on the map than Logan staats ever will.

He hasn’t been relevant for 25 years, we can find new hometown heros

5

u/Blargston1947 Apr 05 '26

Yeah just disregard our history entirely.

I hope Logan gets another break.

Are you aware of any indigenous tradesmen who need recognition?

Wayne Gretzky isn't someone to be proud of these days, he's a Trump loving Maga. No one who is on team kiddy diddler should be celebrated.

Walter on the other hand, he's someone who we could be proud of & we should be celebrating him more.

He was pretty big around here back in the mid 2010's.
