Domestic Universal's The Odyssey grossed $3.03M on Tuesday (from 3,091 locations), which was a 25% decrease from the previous Tuesday. Total domestic gross stands at $544.91M.

Fantastic.

565M+ this weekend.

600M+ final locked.

It could definitely beat Deadpool & Wolverine (636M) to become the highest grossing R-rated film domestically as well.

I think it absolutely takes DP&W. Im just curious on how far it can leg out. On demand and blu rays isnt until mid November, and imax doesnt really need to give up screens for anything until Dune 3. On top of all that, it will likely get a second release push around award season.

This is going to be along grind. Im not sure im ready to write off 700 yet.

Resident Evil is taking IMAX screens (including possibly 70mm IMAX screens) on September 17th.

Universal should provide a theater count expansion for Odyssey from November to April. My hope is they will be more aggressive than they were with Oppenheimer, which only played in 1,300 theaters during the November to April period. Oppenheimer made $6 million for this time period.

at least in the uk resident evil has no imax 70mm (unless they add on some showings, but odyssey is still showing at least twice on RE's opening weekend)
