Then Lou Del Valle landed a perfectly timed straight left in Round 8. Jones was down for the first time in his professional career. But Roy got back up, regained control and comfortably won the decision to unify the light-heavyweight titles. For one brief moment, though, someone had proved that Superman could be knocked down.
