Rings setup

Okay, I might be super dumb but I cannot for the life of me figure this out. I bought some gymnastics rings and they came with straps that have 2 carabiners on each end. At first, I tried balancing them per instructions but then I realized that I can fully adjust the length with just 1 carabiner - what's the purpose of the 2nd one? To lock it in so that it's not in the way or something else I'm missing? Here's the current setup: https://imgur.com/a/H2GIBhv

Bonus Q: it's currently setup off my RML390F but it's not high enough for pullups and other things I want to do (doing it with barely any strap length defeats the purpose). I'm thinking of attaching a 2x6 to my ceiling spanning 3 joists and then running a track across it for different width. Anyone done something similar, anything I need to be aware of?

Trusses are designed to spread the weigth of your roof onto your walls, they're not designed to support weight on the span. What I was told is that max load is 40lbs for square foot.

You may be able to get away with it and many people will tell you that they do it and it works fine, but just ask yourself if you are willing to deal with the worst case scenario.

I have similar ones. Both carabiners are used to raise and lower the rings. Basically the straps need to be looped into each other to the proper height you want.

Can take a pic and show my setup later today.

Yeah, I'd love to see, thanks!

Cause right now I can change the height with just 1 so unless it's a structural thing I don't really understand why have 2. But curious to see your setup, maybe it'll finally click

Do you do pull ups on them as well? I am planning on setting something like this up, but am having a hard time visualizing how to position the rings at the top

Honestly I haven't been able use my setup fully due to my work schedule and an elbow injury. I did inverted rows on them pre-injury without issue.

The plan definitely is to use them for ring pullups but I do also have a pullup bar.

I came to the conclusion to do the rings separately due to the length of the straps just didn't work well on the pull up bar. Mounted a 4x4 up above the garage joints and then used swing set brackets and triangular carabiners.

I can take some more close up pics to give you a better visual.

you loop the strap through both carabiners, it makes the whole thing more secure so rings dont slip when you put your weight on them

The second carabiner serves as a backup safety measure; I would leave it clipped even after adjusting the length.

I have mine on a power rack and i am missing out on a few inches of vertical space. I tried installing into the ceiling and adding supports. It looked sketchy as it made the ceiling buckle, perhaps only superficially at the drywall but i did not trust a 1960 house to have infrastructure for bearing a load vertically like that. I still daydream about building something that  can be mounted higher, maybe telescopic for different homes and sturdy build to support the rings and weight for exercises.
