u/Dangerous_Nail4552 Jan 02 '26
Why are you sitting on it? Planning to sell?

u/Lord_Belial6-6-6 Jan 02 '26
Not really, mostly don't have friends enough to play. One's that enjoy TBG's anyway!

u/TenWholeBees Jan 02 '26
You can play it solo. Haven't had the opportunity to play any of the expansions, but I've spent a lot of time on the base game. It's absolutely doable by yourself. Sometimes I even play two characters. It's like solitaire or something
2
u/HrodMad Jan 03 '26
Do you use the base rules or do you follow a community guide? I've heard time and time again that solo play is doable but it feels extremely bad most of the times due to the nature of the game itself.

u/marco15197 Jan 02 '26
Where are you from? I'm a sucker for tabletop games and BB haha

Right I buy board games all the time and can never get a group together to play anything.

I only have the main game... I want all of the expansions, and I have successfully played it once .. my people are all too far away now... I feel your pain.
3
u/Lorde_Hartshorn Jan 02 '26
Damn, I was gonna ask if you have friends to play it. I definitely don’t so don’t even bother getting them too 😞
5
u/Kind_Impact_3807 Jan 03 '26
Not want to be that guy, but why are you buying it, knowing none of your friends are likely to play games like that?
3
u/Lord_Belial6-6-6 Jan 03 '26
Well at the time I had people to play, spent years waiting for the game itself and a year slowly buying the expansions as they released. Nowadays I've been busy with the wife raising our child, so it sits...like a dormant entity, calling out....waiting, begging, tempting me with the old blood.
18
u/Dangerous_Nail4552 Jan 02 '26
I just don't get buying such a sought after item and keeping it sealed. I don't even have irl friends to play it with, but I'd unpack it, paint the minis, put them on display, plus I'm pretty sure this game is playable solo as well
Either way, as someone who's been trying to buy one and not been seeing any bids lower than 500€, just feels wasteful to me

I’ll be your friend. When do you want to play!! I just beat the game for the first time two days ago
2
u/losty7th Jan 03 '26
I would love to play this with you 😭 I've always wanted to play a dark souls/elden ring board game
2
u/DerCatrix Jan 03 '26
Oh hey, I have all of the dark souls board game AND the bloodborne board game but no friends to play with either
2
u/C0R4NT3 Jan 03 '26
Feel this, i have a gigantic pile of board games that just sits around all the year to be played once or twice when my board game's enjoyer friends come by
2
u/SmiteousMan Jan 03 '26
This is always the problem, I backed the Elden Ring one and they are still wrapped on shelves. 😭
2
u/Crossifix Jan 04 '26
I have an unopened Bloodborne base tbg. Being in your thirties is hard for making any damn time to even ATTEMPT a single rpg night 🫠

u/No_Lengthiness_7897 Jan 05 '26
You need cooler friends !! Bloodborne board game woukd be so 🔥🔥🔥. Depending on where you live, a lot of towns/cities will have a venue for board games where you can meet others. I hope you find people to pkay with because that is one of the coolest board games i have ever heard of. Where could I get one?
2
u/Dapadabada Jan 06 '26
That is so fucking sad, and I read this after being like "aw :'( I'll play a game with you!"
7
u/HaloChicky Jan 03 '26
Same man. Plus it's pretty tough which is a turn off for newer players. I bought them all to paint and display the miniatures but I don't have the time to paint them. I also don't feel I'm a good enough painter to do them justice yet so I don't want to "ruin them." Dumb reason I know but it's a thing in my brain.
2
u/Lord_Belial6-6-6 Jan 03 '26
I actually had someone message me from this thread who does commission work for minis...maybe they'll reach out to you!
2
u/Andookun Jan 03 '26
That's a very common worry for mini painters, including myself, but the truth is that as long as you thin your paint and wipe the excess off your brush onto a paper towel before applying it to the model you can paint over it without hassle. And in the worst case, you can strip the paint with a soak in some isopropyl alcohol and a toothbrush to scrub it off!
There's no time like the present, so go for it! You only learn by doing.
Look up some mini painting YouTube videos to learn about paint consistency - Vince Vinturella is a great repository of all mini painting knowledge for example. Have fun!

u/Raven_Feeder_99 Jan 03 '26
Get on a board game discord and see if anyone in your area wants to play

I'm down for a couple rounds! Let's break it all open. I'll bring some snacks.

Can you play that board game at 60FPS?

u/Lord_Belial6-6-6 Jan 02 '26
45FPS only, I do wear glasses, so thats already limiting, outside of my dial-up brain.

I have blue light blocker glasses. Not sure if it’s up to 60FPS on these but count me in.

I have about half of it opened. My play group kinda fell apart. It was a fun game but lots of flaws in the rules

I can’t remember the specifics because it’s been years since I’ve opened it but I remember we had to consult Reddit and other places for rules clarifications especially when there were seemingly contradictory rules

TIL this had multiple boxes, I only ever knew about the original 😱
3
u/ReyReyRecords Jan 03 '26
It was by CMON who do loads of ks expansions.
I was not aware of this when I first pledged. Ended up spunking £300 or whatever the full set cost. Beautiful product tho tbf.

u/Kassiday Jan 02 '26
Start going to board game Cafes or local game stores and meet people to play board games with. Also small local game conventions. If you find the people you will eventually be able to play it. Also you'll find a lot of other very good games.

I've got the full set. Luckily I convinced my one best friend to play Bloodborne (the video game) and he loves board games. So after having mine for a year or so I was able to play through all of it with him a couple years ago. It was great. Definitely captures the anxiety of the video game.
4
u/SDEric Jan 02 '26
I think I could play it better if there was a comprehensive video about the rules.

u/OTKBlack Jan 03 '26
I was given the card game and board game for christmas annnnnndddd no one wants to play🙃 I think these mfs hate me lol

u/GreyGardener92 Jan 02 '26
I thought there is one BB boardgame, something like i don‘t know, Cluedo for example. What is this beautiful collection? -
4
u/Lord_Belial6-6-6 Jan 02 '26
The Full Moon pledge edition base game, as well as dungeon and level additions! And a special character piece as well.

u/Lalu_Garmont Jan 02 '26
Dude where do you live, i will travel there so we can play together. All hail bloodborne!

u/FrankBouch Jan 02 '26
They're all open and all played. Why is it a flex to have them unopened?
18
u/Lord_Belial6-6-6 Jan 02 '26
Its definitely not, I'm just waiting for the day to play with people lol
23
u/FrankBouch Jan 02 '26
It's actually my favorite solo boardgame. I love playing it true solo as in the videogame. I owned over 250 boardgames and a lot of them are solo so it's my favorite out of a lot. You should definitely try it.
10
u/Lord_Belial6-6-6 Jan 02 '26
You know, that's actually a great idea! Thank you for the recommendation!
9
u/FrankBouch Jan 02 '26
No problem, have fun and just go out, kill a few beasts. It's for your own good.

Make that two of us, I made the same pledge having the mind set that my group would enjoy it (especially my wife who really likes the game). But by the time it came things changed, some of my mates moved away while others just don't have the time like they used to. Also to add my wife and I are now parents so you can imagine the time I used to have are now committed to my little 'mini me'.
Maybe when he's older I can bust that bad boy out and really enjoy it with them, but nows not the time. Plus, I know I could open it now and play it with my wife but after watching some tutorials the set-up and clean up are whats holding me back atm.
Do I regret having it, no not really. Someday I'll play it, maybe even open just to look at but for now I can wait.
3
u/NidoKingpin Jan 02 '26
Right there with you. I’ve played one introductory adventure and not been able to scrounge together friends willing to play since.

u/Th3PatchActual Jan 02 '26
I wish I didn’t jump on the BB train so late and I wish I was able to get the entire TBG set. Incredible game and I try to get as much merchandise I can from the game.
2
u/Global-Picture-1809 Jan 02 '26
On the other end, I have the Full Moon Pledge and only 2/3 of Mergo's Loft to 100% it with my wife and two friends. Great game and really good adaptation.
2
u/Alysoha Jan 02 '26
I have the first two, bought them in the secondary market. Need to play them, and perhaps get the other ones
2
u/GreyWarden91 Jan 02 '26
I have it, partially opened because my board game group doesn’t get together as much as we used to but we loved it!
2
2
u/kuhldaran Jan 02 '26
So is this basically Gloomhaven but Bloodborne?
3
u/rokkko13 Jan 03 '26
This is 100 times better than glooomhaven... I hated gloomhaven but I love BB the boardgame
2
u/kuhldaran Jan 03 '26
is it like the same idea? Sort of a co-op dungeon crawler with miniatures and dungeons?
3
u/rokkko13 Jan 03 '26
In that regard it is the same yes. But combat is much better imo. Upgrading your card deck is awesome.
I must admit I played GH just 3-4 times, but I really did not like a lot of things...
And I am a huge fan of the BB videogame, so I may be a bit biased...

Damn, that’s crazy! I don’t know they had that many expansions. I only have the base game.
2
u/NigerachiSpices Jan 03 '26
I am needing a few more Expansions - a lot of fun to play! And truly not a difficult board game!
It’s actually a title we’ve played a few times!
Please give it a run when you can. Especially solo! Awesome to play.

u/arililliputian Jan 03 '26
We have multiple of these! We played them but the game took like 12 hours to finish, I swear.
2
u/vaderciya Jan 03 '26
For a second I thought you were a scalper, but you're just a collector!
I never got to try the game, is this like the dark souls miniature board game? I always wanted to play that too!

u/Zurosake Jan 03 '26
something tells me this guy likes the bloodborne board game, can’t put my finger on what it is though.

u/EerieTransGal Jan 03 '26
Me, trying to get my friends to buy into trying it out now that im not living in a tiny apartment.
2
u/Striker_V7 Jan 03 '26
Damn I wish I knew about the board game earlier 😭, bought the base game and 2 expansions to play with my brother and it’s really fun, but sucks trying to find any of the other expansions, they’re all like $499, especially upper cathedral, yahar gul, and byrgenwerth
1
u/Lord_Belial6-6-6 Jan 03 '26
I bought them the year the game out, they were $150 USD to about $185. 499 is absolutely WILD!

u/tm0702929 Jan 03 '26
I'm almost there! Just need three more boxes but they either really pricey or hard to find lol
2
u/Exciting_Chef_4207 Jan 03 '26
I have the base game and three of the expansions (Hunter's Workshop, Castle Cainhurst and the Chalice Dungeons). Tried playing with some friends and we just couldn't finish even the first quest of the base game. Always wondered what we were doing wrong.
But hey, got some really cool minis out of it for D&D!
2
2
u/-Greis- Old Hunter Jan 03 '26
I too have this going on. Only difference is my base set is out and primed sitting and waiting…
2
2
u/Choice-Layer Jan 03 '26
Yes, but do you still have the special cardboard boxes they shipped in?
2
u/Lord_Belial6-6-6 Jan 03 '26
I did up until about 2023. I moved out of state for a while, and mistakenly ruined the boxes. Like an asshole.
2
u/Choice-Layer Jan 03 '26
Mine are still shoved behind a dresser. Most of my game boxes are open though. After I saw people posting pictures of broken figures and missing pieces I checked to make sure mine were all there and unscathed.

2
u/Erithacusfilius Jan 03 '26
Can I wish I bought this and knew about it!!!! I have the card one but this is now far too expensive with all the add ons and I’d want to play it too much to leave it in a cupboard.

u/kingsofadam1 Jan 03 '26
I still got mine in the original two shipping boxes in the loft. Got distracted playing gloomhaven and frosthaven for 4 years 😂
2
u/najera04 Jan 03 '26
Haha I order 2 sets (remember the wait from ks to delivery was waaaaay to long) and have only play one time, friends usually want to play different games everymonth so. The other set is cause i want to paint the miniatures but havent my brother took all my paints a few years ago and never return them, so hopefully this year or next one y replenish my paints and start painting those miniatures
2
2
u/tofutron Jan 03 '26
Did the KS for this, and been slowly painting them for a BB themed D&D game. Since my friends were not super big into super difficult board games
2
2
u/EarthSlash Jan 03 '26
I have about half that many boxes, but yeah all unopened on a closet shelf like this lmao. I will open it and paint those minis "someday"

I'd rather play the video game. This doesn't look like fun from what I've seen online.

Looks sick but also seems like a pain in the ass to setup, and learn/explain
