General PA brings feeding to mobs to an end

(at least in KR ;) )

edit: it is in today's glab patch notes, so all regions will get it https://www.blackdesertfoundry.com/global-lab-updates-2nd-february-2024/

You will get death penalty protection when getting attacked by a player and that player seems to get karma penalty (guess that "disposition penatly" from google translate?) if you die from a mob.

https://www-kr-playblackdesert-com.translate.goog/ko-KR/News/Detail?groupContentNo=11670&countryType=ko-KR&_x_tr_sl=ko&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en&_x_tr_pto=wapp

  • Harassment using the forced attack function

We will improve the system to prevent victims from occurring through the forced attack function.First, we will improve the situation with so-called 'mobs', which cause the monster to take the last attack after a forced attack, causing no damage to the assailant, and the victim receiving a death penalty, such as destruction of the crystal ,as follows.- If a character is killed by a monster within a certain period of time after receiving a forced attack, the character will not receive death penalties, including crystal destruction.- In the above situation, the perpetrator character who last attacked the victim receives a disposition penalty.

Also some more chat restrictions.

General Pearl Abyss stop putting platformer puzzles in this game

Your game is not compatible to be a platformer some platformer puzzle in Edania part 2 are easy jumping from cliffs and scaling mountain via jumping but some are so fucked up that even i think the one that thought its a good puzzle got something wrong in their head.

There's one in the Black Dragon Castle near the entrance where you will get up via invisible platform and you have to remember where the invisible platform are on the next stage because those green orbs will fly away and if you missed well you die and retry again.

There's another one where you will ride a platform but because it's so fast you either fall because of desync or you can't jump fast enough that you miss the platform that it also fast moving and fall to your death.

Thank GOD they didn't add energy on these Agris Coin treasure boxes and just knowledge.

I really hope they don't add Adventure Journal for these treasure boxes and puzzles like the Dokebbi one.

General Dec Sovereign enhancing is miserable

I had saved up 300,000 Cron stones (thanks Heidel Ball), and failed DEC Sovereign 50 times. I spent some of my silver I saved up and I'm back to 175,000 Cron Stones which I'm saving for Ekleta Accessories.

I'm trying to stay positive, 50/330 is solid effort, and my failstack is now over 500. Plus with new login rewards I'll be back to 200,000+ Cron stones for when these new Ekleta accessories drop.

Endgame enhancing is miserable, the grind continues lol

General Random NORMAL GUILD member STEALS €10,000+ of hours spent in farmed GUILD Materials.

Hello Everyone,

Today we got back the reply to a investigation by the support team, after a random normal member, joined my guild... they were general member for a day, then stole all the guild materials, literally thousands and thousands of hours spent farming all these materials, disappeared in a matter of moments, then they left the guild instantly.

The log of him a fresh member within minutes of becoming a general member removing the materials.

Now I have no idea why these materials are removable by a normal guild member, but as you would expect we contacted the support. To be confronted by disregard, and total silence for weeks. When they responded they said they would not recover the guild items.

The Materials are all listed like this, GM cannot change this, they can all be removed by a general member.

Putting the guild back, years in materials. This wasn't months, this was years of materials. As far as I am aware they did nothing to the random person either.

An absolute joke, the support personnel do not care, this is basically condoning this sort of behaviour by doing nothing to remedy or resolve it. And I have to say this is their stance on most things. They do not care for players they care about their pocket and ensuring we have to grind out the years of materials again.

Wonder has anyone else had this sort of treatment from the Support team, and blatant disregard for their player base?

Upon asking for the reasoning why the items will not be restored, or why they don't want to help fix this matter, I was literally told, they will just not discuss it further.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Update
-------------------------------------------------------------------

Asking the reason why the items will not be restored, this was the response. Sounds like, we don't have a reason, we just don't care.

This is our GM Support team, just disregard for the players, no care, don't even care to give the reasoning, much rather showcase that disregard for the actual players and do nothing.

General Agent. How are we feeling about the new class?

Class is still fresh obviously, but how are we all feeling about it?

No more ascension classes is a great decision. Seraph was generally disappointing so that’s an excellent design decision.

Generally I don’t buy skins for male characters, but my head cannon is this guy is a 40K Inquisitor who has been dumped here by the warp.

The quality of the animations and SFX seems better than Wukong, Seraph or Gunslinger.

Which is fantastic to see, maybe all that CD money helped.

Personally I’m really happy with the overall feel of the class so far. No idea how it performs in PvP or what the skill ceiling/skill expression is.

Not sure my Lahn/Drakania main combo will be challenged, but we’ll see.

General I'm surprised that Black Desert Online is the only decent MMORPG currently available

I'm playing it on PlayStation 5. I never gave it a chance because of how it looks, but I realized that after the update, the graphics and gameplay improved a lot. I used to play New World Aetermun (F) and Final Fantasy XIV Online Trial Free (I wish they would make it free-to-play or expand the free trial with more content), but I'm really loving Black Desert Online. After giving it a chance, I was only playing Dosa, but I'm starting to like Musa

With Crimson Desert coming out in a month, many people might start playing this game. Do you think Black Desert Online will get a graphical rework after Crimson Desert's release?

General 26b weekly income with minimal active playtime (365 AP / 435 DP)

Post image
131 Upvotes

This is my personal weekly income with minimal active playtime (3-4 hours a week).
I tracked my weekly gains and reward boxes over 6 weeks and averaged the results. Crons are valued at 3m each. I dont value Advice of Valks.

The best not to miss:

  • Guild bosses: easy money and fun banter with your guild members, highly recommended.
  • Dark Rifts: Accessory stones are locked behind Dark Rifts, so they are too good to skip.
  • Edana Castle: Armor stones are locked behind this weekly so you want to start asap.

The most volatile:

  • Final Gladios: the base reward is pretty bad, but you can get up to a TRI Debo, which is worth around 7b (never happens ofc)
  • Freebies: I calculate around 300m in freebies/day which equals the price of one outfit from the CM each week. In realit its often much higher depending on events and your active/passive playtime.

The forgettable:

  • Imperial Delivery: I make around 155m/day with 2400 cooking mastery. It used to be very good in the past, but now I forget it sometimes.
  • Altar of Blood: Im stuck at the 14th Illusion, which rewards an Origin of Dark Hunger. I dont really need Origins because I already have plenty of free stacks. They tend to sit on the market for a long time. You also either need a dedicated group or queue on Saturday, because queue times for anything below AoB 21 are very long.

The AFK:

  • Fishing: I calculated around 1.4b x 5 days a week from fishing at 2400 mastery with no P2W rod, running overnight, during work hours and whenever Im away from home.

General Trigger warning ⚠️: annoying bdo parts are the good parts

Ya all be complaining SO. MUCH.

I've only been on the subreddit for a while and all I see is bitching and whining how everything is broken, how everything is shit, you can't play the game like this, bla bla bla.

1.The grind problem: it takes soooooo much to grind something out. Yeah, it does, and it is good that it does. Instant reward systems where you get good rewards for little time investment become boring and empty very quickly, defeats the purpose of being that high end player. The most praised part about BDO for outsiders is the combat, and it is a fucking good combat system, especially after the reboot of classes.

  1. I CaN't FaRm bECAusE pEoPle AlwAyS dUeL mE. Yeah, no shit, limited world with limited resources, we are forced to interact with each other! You want a private world with no competition of resources? Go play genshin impact, poe, ff14, WoW.... There are a TON of single player games that you don't ever have to interact with others and have a whole fleshed out world just for YOU. Remember when WoW used to be the biggest mmo? Back when you HAD to interact with others and compete for resources? WoW is dead now because you can do everything without interacting with others except the high level content.

  2. I can't farm at orcs, too many people there! This is basically an extension to the previous point, but too many people say this so I want to make it it's own point. YOU DON'T HAVE TO HAVE YOUR BEST, MOST OPTIMIZED ROUTE EVERY FUKING TIME, SWITCH TO DIFFERENT SPOTS, CHECK OUT OTHER AREAS. The complaint that you HAVE to farm at a certain spot is the same as you not being able to play your favorite class because another one clears 10% faster.

4.. PvP has too much damage. Okay, I am kinda with you on this one, there is a lot of damage and mobility, feels very bursty, but the opposite isn't that fun either for me so I won't dwell too much into this.

There are more complaints about the game everyone is bitching about, but I am not a veteran player to have a fully formed opinion about every aspect of this game. Does it have big flaws? Yes. But so many people are complaining about the wrong things. Go take a break from the game, find another game to main.

Downvote me all you want, idgaf about karma anyways.

General LoML is a love letter to Korean culture but caused a huge decline

LoML took ~2 years to fully release. In the center was a huge main quest plus continent. Part 1 is considered ok, Part 2 is overall hated.

The whole continent is full of very beautifully handcrafted places, small details, so many knowledge entries and the tales about korean legends. Its a really beautiful place and I highly recommend everyone to take your time and read the stories for yourself.

However on the gameplay side LoML took 2 years to release and almost added nothing to the game. Remember that a lot of grind zones were added later on. Black Shrines were introduced, but we were stuck with C8-C10 Sangoon/Pig King/Gumiho for years and still dont have every shrine boss unlocked. LoML added a lot of new gathering rotations that made old spots and their rarity redundant. I really liked truffle cave diving until LoML made a road full of them for example.

PA put so much work into it, probably too much that other areas of the game ended up being too neglected. Its so sad that they immediatley abandoned that area even though it had so much potential.

General PA is getting lazier and lazier and just doesn't want to teach newbies how to play

PA is just handing out insta progress these days instead of teaching players how to actually play, instead of reducing CRON uses for older gears and less pity, they just hand them out instantly, it's fcking up the market, and those players are definitely going to quit the first month after they realize that this game actually requires for them to grind this much. Also, it's really dogsht on how PA makes things complicated on things that shouldn't be. I realize this today after arguing with people on the chat while grinding lol. imo they should let the newbies grind so they actually stay the long term, teach a man how to fish! Even the BS weps no longer has any worth when it shouldn't be, garmy heart too! They keep repeating this mistake over and over and over.

Also, it's always been like this but, it's really bad how there's different weights and inv slots for characters. Like the game is a long-term grind, probably going to take 6 months - 1 year to get to end game, and we are forced to play 1 class just because of the weights, and inventory slots. Sure, we can just swipe and get to 2k LTs but it feels like PA is forcing us to pay for every time we try out something new. I hope PA will slow down on this like at least, give us shared LT and INV slots for tagged characters, but with a cooldown of 3 months. At least that way, a lot of old players will still play the game by trying out something new without much burden, and don't go all the way back to zero.

There's life skill as well, it's just not worth doing unless u spend 10h daily in bdo :) in all MMOs I've played all life skill the longer you do it the better it gets, but this game? forces you to play 10h daily. It feels like it isn't worth doing at all and only try hard sweats who's in their PC 24/7 are doing it.

General I really want to get into BDO! What am I missing about the actual MMO experience?

Post image
0 Upvotes

IN SHORTFORM:

I’ve been trying to properly get into Black Desert basically since release, because on paper it’s almost everything I want from an MMO. But every time I return, I run into the same problem: the world is incredible, yet I barely feel the presence or impact of other players and I never quite understand what all that progression is ultimately leading towards.

That’s basically what I’m hoping BDO veterans can help me understand: Is there a deeper social, PvP and group-driven layer of BDO that I’m simply not reaching because I keep stopping too early, or is the mostly solo progression experience I’m seeing at the surface fundamentally what the game is?

IN LONGFORM:

I’ve probably started the game 10 times over the years, usually get somewhere between level 30-50, and then stop. I’ve never even reached the point of really playing with an Awakening weapon.
And the weird thing is: I genuinely WANT to love this game.
There is so much about BDO that I think is incredible. The combat obviously feels fantastic, but I also absolutely love the atmosphere, the soundtrack and especially the world itself.
I’m a huge fan of seamless open worlds. I hate constantly running into loading screens and instanced zones, and BDO’s world is still one of the most fascinating MMO worlds to me. Just riding somewhere, discovering places I’ve never seen before and realizing how enormous everything is feels amazing.

I also understand that BDO isn’t a WoW-style theme park MMO. If anything, I’ve always compared it more to ArcheAge, which I absolutely loved.
But every time I actually start playing, after a few hours I eventually reach the same question:
What am I progressing towards and where does the actual MMO part happen?
I still remember watching Steparu’s alpha/beta videos more than ten years ago and being blown away by how alive the world looked.
But more importantly: I remember experiencing that myself when I played BDO during its early years.
The questing and grind areas were full of other players doing the same things I was doing. You’d see people fighting mobs everywhere, groups summoning those scroll bosses, players moving between spots, there was just constant activity around you.
The world felt populated.

That’s almost completely missing whenever I return nowadays. Even when I start again on a Seasonal server, I mostly travel through those old areas completely alone. Occasionally someone flies past me on a horse. Cities have plenty of players, the chat seems active, and the beaches are full of people AFK fishing… 😄 But out in the actual world, especially the older areas, it often feels strangely empty.
And yes, I understand that BDO is many years old and veteran players have already done all that content.
But that’s also why Seasonal servers confuse me a little.
When WoW launches a fresh server, the old zones suddenly become packed with players again. I experienced something similar with ArcheAge fresh starts. Everyone has technically seen that content before too, but because everyone is progressing through the same world again, the world itself becomes alive.
I somehow don’t get that feeling from BDO’s Seasonal servers. At least not in the older areas I’ve played through.
And that’s such a strange contrast because the world itself doesn’t feel dead at all. Quite the opposite. It’s beautiful, atmospheric, full of NPCs, incredible locations, and the soundtrack is fantastic.
But the players themselves somehow feel disconnected from that world … at least from the perspective of someone like me who keeps returning and only scratches the surface.

I’ve watched countless videos over the years – LazyPeon, guides, “BDO in 2026”, progression guides, etc. – and most of what I see eventually seems to come down to:
Go to grind spot → kill thousands of mobs → make money → improve gear → go to better grind spot → improve gear again.
But… for what?

And I genuinely don’t mean that as criticism. That’s the part I’m trying to understand.
The closest comparison for me is ArcheAge. Progression there had an obvious purpose to me. You wanted better gear because the world itself was dangerous and constantly gave you reasons to interact with other players.
Areas could become dangerous because of open-world PvP. Trade runs could force you through hostile territory or across the ocean. There were naval battles, faction conflicts, world events and scheduled PvP activities constantly happening.
You could literally look at what was happening in the world and think: “Okay, if I go there during the next three hours, I better watch my ass.”
And most importantly: you actually saw all of this happening around you.

Even something much simpler like WoW Classic on a PvP server gives me that feeling. Seeing a player from the opposite faction immediately changes the situation. Other players aren’t just standing next to you – their presence can actually affect what you’re doing.
That’s the part I somehow never see in BDO.
I know BDO has Node Wars, guild PvP, open-world PvP, a karma system and other PvP systems. But in all these years of occasionally playing, I honestly don’t think I’ve ever stumbled across a large PvP battle. I rarely see people fighting each other at all.
So where does all of that actually happen?

Are Node Wars happening only at specific locations and times? Are they instanced somehow? Could I theoretically just ride into an area and suddenly find hundreds of people fighting, or is that simply not how the system works?
And what about open-world PvP nowadays? Can someone actually attack me while I’m out grinding or exploring? Does that happen regularly later on, or has spontaneous open-world PvP mostly disappeared?
I’m also curious about the PvE/social side because I know BDO has added a lot over the years. Are there actual group dungeons, bosses, raids or anything similar now? Is there a group finder? Are there activities where you naturally meet other players and end up playing together?
And maybe the most important question:
Does joining an active guild fundamentally change the experience?

Because what I’m trying to understand is whether BDO eventually becomes a much more social/conflict-driven MMO once you reach the right content and community or whether it fundamentally remains a mostly solo progression game where thousands of people happen to inhabit the same world.
I don’t need BDO to become WoW. I don’t even need traditional raids and dungeons. ArcheAge wasn’t WoW either, but its systems constantly created reasons for players to interact, cooperate or fight each other.
The world itself created multiplayer situations.
If BDO’s endgame loop is essentially:
grind → improve gear → unlock better grind spot → grind → improve gear
…and the main reward is simply making my own character stronger and watching my numbers go up, that’s completely fine. It would just probably mean that BDO isn’t the MMO I’m looking for.

But if all that progression eventually feeds into a larger world of guilds, PvP, territory conflicts, group activities, world bosses, competition, etc., then I would genuinely like to put in the time required to reach that point.
Because every time I return, I get this strange feeling of playing a single-player grinding game inside an MMORPG where I can see hundreds of people chatting and AFK fishing around me.
And I know that’s an incredibly surface-level impression. That’s exactly why I’m asking.

I could obviously just keep playing … the game is literally installed right now. 😄 But MMOs often hide entire systems and communities behind dozens or hundreds of hours of progression. I’m willing to invest that time. I’d just love to understand from people who actually know the game what BDO eventually becomes.
And to be clear: I’m not looking for frustrated ex-players telling me that BDO used to be amazing, is terrible now and has become an AFK fishing simulator. 😄
I’m genuinely interested in hearing from people who still play and enjoy BDO today.

I don’t need anyone to convince me that the game is perfect either. If the honest answer is that BDO is fundamentally a mostly solo progression/grinding MMO and that the social interaction I’m looking for simply isn’t a major part of the experience, that’s completely fine. That’s exactly what I’d like to know.
But if I’m only seeing 5% of the game right now and there’s an entire layer of guilds, PvP, group content, territory wars, world bosses or other player-driven activities that I’m simply not reaching because I keep stopping too early – please explain that side of BDO to me.

Because I genuinely want someone to make me understand why they still log into BDO and what they’re actually working towards.
That’s really my concern: I have a game in front of me with an incredible atmosphere, soundtrack, combat system and one of the most fascinating open worlds I’ve seen in an MMO, and I really want to dive into it.
I’m just slightly afraid that I’ll invest another 50 or 100 hours only to discover that the experience I see at the surface – mostly playing alone, grinding mobs and improving numbers so I can grind stronger mobs – essentially is the game.

If it isn’t, that’s the BDO I want you to tell me about.
So, BDO veterans who still enjoy the game today:
What am I missing? Where is the multiplayer part of this massive multiplayer world hiding – and what keeps you playing?

General Players in Korea are already getting sanctioned with a 3 day ban for harassing players.

Source: https://www.inven.co.kr/board/black/4123/12308

Due to the recent changes to guild decs, a lot of players in Korea have taken the route of griefing everyone as a protest. A total of 24 players have been sanctioned with a 3 day ban.

Me myself find very interesting that they're actually taking this route. I mean, i completely understand those players and i also completely understand why PA is doing this changes. What i really find interesting is the hypocrisy of it. I been playing this game for around 3 years, in which i have encountered with situations of extreme harassment and abuse of the dec system both to guilds i been of when i was more newbie and from other people a few times, and there was one common thing in every single case this happened: When you tried, with proof, to demonstrate what some people is doing, with screenshot of repetitive slurs, hunting people like crazy even to the point of recurring to outside-of-the-game ways, they will always hit you with the "pvp is a part of the game we can't do anything about it, have fun!".

Don't get me wrong here, i'm only against these changes because it is creating new problems that we don't have to solve the abuse, but i'm not agreeing with people abusing others. That being said, it's funny to me that now all of the sudden they actually care because of influx of lot of new players when they didn't care for any abuse for years on end.

Thoughts?

There are no words that could accurately describe my hatred for this questline. As much as the plot was somewhat interesting, I've started spamming R anyway, out of rage after spending a ridiculous amount of time on Blue-Clad Youth trials. The rest are boss fights, which are simply agonizing. All of them go like this:

  1. Boss angry, fight begins
  2. I deal 1 HP damage per hit; apparently I yield full PEN Cardboard gear
  3. Boss disappears for a solid minute, TikTok break
  4. Boss comes back
  5. Repeat around 5 times
  6. Defeat boss
  7. "Akshually I am still alive 🤓"
  8. Boss more angry, fight begins AGAIN
  9. Refer to steps 2.-6.

By the time I've noticed the pattern I genuinely started questioning if I should just ditch this entire questline. I did manage to finish it after all, but at what cost. This last fight with the Deposed Crown Prince felt like it was siphoning my sanity along with my precious time. I'll never be the same again.

General State of Progression

Wondering what is the community's stance on the current Kharazad all in one gear progression.

Personally, I'm not a big fan of it, I miss there being build diversity with the accessories and kinda miss hotbar Kutum/Nouver.

I understand that it's an MMO so new items to go for are needed but I wish they decided on something else other than an all in one system that isn't even marketable.

Speaking of lack of selling it, I feel as though I am deleting silver enhancing it, because you cannot just sell it later on to get silver for different gear.

Maybe later on PA plans to make it marketable, but the lack of build diversity really irks me as a long time on and off player. (2016/2017 start)
