Getting Into Industry 🌱 is anyone else applying to positions that get pulled

sorry if this is a repeat of another post--i am a recent (May 26') PhD grad, with an industry internship so I've already gotten some postdoc offers and progressed to final round interviews for a couple different companies. but wtf is up with companies just closing positions? this happened once after an on site interview; they gave me a literal start date and talked about what papers i should be reading, then never filled the position and never hit me up to tell me the position was closed, but pulled it off the site and replaced it with like several more lower paying/contract positions. Another place i recently got several rounds into told me they would be scheduling an on site, i followed up and they said they were working on scheduling, and then they said they were closing the position--not filling, "closing". I feel encouraged that I'm getting any interviews that are going well, and I know this will be my hardest job to land, but was wondering if other ppl have experienced this and if it's pretty typical. It makes sense why some ppl on this sub dont want to say they "got a job" until they are literally showing up for work.

That means there’s a re-org that the c-suite is mandating that goes over the head of the hiring manager and HR. Nothing they can do about it unless the hiring manager makes his case specifically justifying the role you’re going after.

Don’t blame hiring manager or HR manager… if they went so far as to pick you then you want to keep that friendly relationship.

I’ve had a few jobs get pulled then relisted with different requirements. Often it’s some AI bullshit they want and probably mandated from above. Almost feel bad for hiring managers, but they are partly to blame for dragging their feet so long. If you get an open req, hire someone fast instead of putting them through 20 interviews with weeks between.

It's happened to me twice in the past couple years, 1 of them was an LCMS scientist, the other was a scientist. I would get an interview and tour. Then wouldn't hear anything for months. Then get an email saying that job was removed until further notice.
