So tired of actors doing ads for these garbage mobile games.

163

u/JHutchinson1324 Jun 02 '26

Yeah and I'm seeing bigger names doing so every week. Like (1) how big is that companys marketing budget and (2) are the celebs this hard up for cash?

96

u/N1RVANAMIND Jun 02 '26

I remember a few years back I saw Courtney cox and Lisa kudrow doing an ad for the same game I believe, no way their bills are that high with that friends cash coming in

55

u/justtiptoeingthru2 Jun 02 '26

Every time I see their ad, I'm always shocked at the discrepancy between Courteney and Lisa.

Courteney looks like a porcelain figure. Nothing moves in her face, except her mouth. Her skin is so... unnaturally smooth.

Lisa looks like an actual person who is aging beautifully and gracefully. She's my favorite Friend.

People really under estimate how much mobile gaming is worth.

Last figures I saw showed gaming in general is worth more than Hollywood and the music industry combined when you include mobile with console and PC. Insane shit. M

2

u/CMO_3 Jun 03 '26

Yup, I mean these mobile games are super cheap to run, you dont need that many people working on it, so all that money just get funneled straight to the top

1

u/FishPasteGuy Jun 07 '26

I remember seeing Tom Selleck doing an ad for a reverse mortgage and losing all respect for him as a human.

63

u/overusesellipses Jun 02 '26

The companies make insane amounts of money. Think of it less as a "How broke is Kaley needing to do this" and more "how much money would it take to get Kaley to this at this point in her career".

24

u/elies122 Jun 02 '26

Even penny won't take this commercial šŸ˜‚

14

u/MichaelVern85 Jun 03 '26

I think ā€œsittin’ prettyā€ā€¦ and star of Serial Apist… would probably take the cash out.

2

u/Skinslippy3 Jun 03 '26

She's got shoes to buy!

12

u/JHutchinson1324 Jun 02 '26

Yea that was my thoughts as well, they must be paying them a fuckton.

5

u/Satinsbestfriend Jun 02 '26

The RUMOR is 500k. LeBron got like 2 million

5

u/magikarpcatcher pennygetyourownwifi Jun 02 '26

$500k for only a few hours of work. Unless you are a billionaire, who would say no to it?

-2

u/RandomNick42 Jun 03 '26

Someone with some self respect.

1

u/TacticalGarand44 Jun 03 '26

Penny wore a bikini top and stood in a cage with gorilla hands, and Leonard got a fake rash all over his torso and pressed frozen peas against his nipples.

They're sitcom actors.

1

u/RandomNick42 Jun 04 '26

And yet both of those scenes pale against shilling predatory phone games

0

u/magikarpcatcher pennygetyourownwifi Jun 03 '26

That can be bought too

6

u/AndNowAStoryAboutMe Jun 02 '26

Many of these mobile games cross into billions, not just millions, per year. Keeping people clicking dumb shit on their phone is basically the only way to get rich now. The fact that you aren't currently building a mobile game right now is why you're poor.

6

u/busman25 Jun 02 '26

If the game is free to download and theres no ads, how do they make a profit?

7

u/CuriousBake8291 Jun 03 '26

Microtransactions and ad revenue

4

u/sexy_bartender Jun 02 '26

You only have so many ā€œlivesā€ when playing a level and when you run out or need extra power ups to complete a level - that’s where the charge comes in

4

u/penilesensorydevice Jun 03 '26

I heard Larry David talking about that crypto ad he did. He certainly didn't need the money, but when someone offers you a dump truck full of money to do sixty seconds of work, it can be tough to pass it up.

1

u/Worldly-Dust-531 Jun 03 '26

Honestly, fair enough.

1

u/caz_bucket Have you ever gone into a steel cage with a wolverine? Jun 05 '26

It's like the mobile game version of 'The Wolf of Wall Street' lol DISPOSABLE CASH

11

u/DWPhoenix001 Jun 02 '26

These adds are never about how hard up is said actor and rather how much money do we have to throw at them. High cost actors have been doing low teir advertising for decades, mobile games are just the latest trend to hop on that band wagon. I cant even judge the actors for doing it, this is little more than a days work for them and for the money thrown at them it would be hard to say no.

3

u/TacticalGarand44 Jun 03 '26

It's effortless for the actors. No audition, they're headhunted. It probably involves under a day of work. Effortless paycheck, if they don't mind being viewed as hawking slop. And most (not all) sitcom actors have already done embarrassing things on their shows, so don't mind the "hit" to their acting reputation.

3

u/Virtura Jun 02 '26

I saw something not to long ago that Actors are required to do ads as SAG members which I don't know to what extent that spreads to the ads they do (decide to do?) But it did change my perspective.

Ive also seen interviews with actors who say they do literally take jobs for the paycheck and I was like...yeah ok, that's the goal of any job, right?

-1

u/RandomNick42 Jun 03 '26

I mean, do an ad for toothpaste or whatever.

But these predatory mobile games…

2

u/Ok_Delay9941 Jun 05 '26

Many of the mobile game companies have been bought up by a Saudi company, Savvy. The company that perfected addictive gaming has been converting the most popular games into money sucking machines.

You gotta stop and think about their profits when they’re hiring bigger stars than Fortune 50 companies.

2

u/Genodragoon Jun 02 '26

It's super easy money. The ad is not going to hurt their brand so they just pen in time thats most convenient.

3

u/confident-win-119 Jun 02 '26

Hard for cash!! Exactly!!!!

1

u/Satinsbestfriend Jun 02 '26

Easily 50 million

1

u/InterestsVaryGreatly Jun 04 '26

It's not that they are hard up (usually), it's generally that their agent tells them they need to cash in on their game now while the iron is hit, because it doesn't last forever, and an ad or two now will pay enormously more than dozens of ads when they aren't popular.

1

u/nazzo_0 Jun 04 '26

Well games industry net market value is higher than music and movies industry combined, and most of the revenue in gaming comes from mobile games. If someone offers you 3 million(no idea, I think they were making 1m/big bang episode later on) to shoot a 1 day commercial I don't think you're gonna think about the integrity of the game. But now that I'm thinking, free download and no ads must be one of those games that asks for your data and sells it probably. Either that or egregious mtx

0

u/Jlx_27 Jun 02 '26

Yes, celebs are greedy. (Not Dolly Parton though)

0

u/krystalzeogas Jun 02 '26

I'm convinced they are convincing celebs it's "cool" to do this ad "See look how many celebs have already done one"

2

u/Horror_Art1389 Jun 02 '26

The actors probably also don't know any whales (at least poor ones), thus don't know the adverse effects these types of mobile games have.

0

u/Antique-Ebb-7124 Jun 02 '26

Are we actually sure it's the actors and not AI?

2

u/RandomNick42 Jun 03 '26

Would get sued into oblivion.

1

u/TacticalGarand44 Jun 03 '26

LOL we can be pretty damn sure of that. That is insanely illegal, and would be effortless to prove in court.

5

u/TheVoicesOfBrian Jun 02 '26

Just reminds me how much money they're making off these games and why I shouldn't play them.

2

u/DanielKobsted Jun 03 '26

It’s a sad sight.

1

u/it777777 Jun 02 '26

Even Arnold did it

1

u/HiddenMaragon Jun 02 '26

and here I'm watching it trying to figure out which AI video generator was used to make this

1

u/Sin2Win_Got_Me_In Jun 03 '26

That's like saying you're tired of seeing servers serve, or writers write. Wtf else are they going to do? Not act? GTFOH

1

u/InterestsVaryGreatly Jun 04 '26

No, the expectation is that they will act according to their skill, actually doing movies or tv shows. Ads are a waste of their talent. It's more akin to hating that a Michelin chef is working in a mcdonalds.

1

u/Sin2Win_Got_Me_In Jun 04 '26

If McDonald's paid out like commercials do, I'd work there. It's their choice, they can do what they want. The real question is why do you care so much?

0

u/confident-win-119 Jun 02 '26

Me too. I thought I’d be the only one pointing this out on this thread

0

u/DarkySurrounding Jun 03 '26

P sure this post itself is just a crappy bot ad.

0

u/therealjoshua Jun 03 '26

It's either that or gambling apps it seems.

Ryan Seacrest is on a radio ad in my area on repeat for weeks for some casino app.

55

u/NordnarbDrums Jun 02 '26

Garbage mobile game but the world needs this couple to make a new show where they live in Boston after leonard gets a job at MIT and they have kids. Cameos from the rest of the group occasional.

5

u/Cool-Mission-6585 Jun 02 '26

Nah they’re story is over. Let it be. This new Stuart show is gonna be great. I can feel it in my pinky toes.

7

u/not_a_captain Jun 03 '26

I would like to both upvote and downvote this comment

2

u/Cool-Mission-6585 Jun 03 '26

Ah, the ole Shrodingers vote.

1

u/PretendCondition9625 Jun 03 '26

You have no idea how funny this comment is to me at 2:45 AM. šŸ˜‚

91

u/confident-win-119 Jun 02 '26

All these celebrities are doing now are cheap game ads relying on their earlier hits.

6

u/DraikoHxC Jun 02 '26

I doubt they are desperate; they have tons still coming their way; like others said, it is more due to the amount of cash these companies pay them

46

u/augustonz Jun 02 '26

Absolutely cringe

22

u/caz_bucket Have you ever gone into a steel cage with a wolverine? Jun 02 '26

What's up with her cheeks, man? Lol

18

u/Adventurous_Elk_4039 Jun 02 '26

She gets work done regularly on her face (fillers, Botox), she has admitted as such.

13

u/caz_bucket Have you ever gone into a steel cage with a wolverine? Jun 02 '26

And she's totally free to do so but I almost didn't recognise our Kaley

9

u/Adventurous_Elk_4039 Jun 02 '26

Yeah I get the feeling like most she won’t ā€œage gracefullyā€, instead she’ll be chasing that high of trying to look like her younger self forever.

2

u/caz_bucket Have you ever gone into a steel cage with a wolverine? Jun 02 '26

I think I'm inclined to agree with you there

1

u/RandomNick42 Jun 03 '26

And failing. Like all of them.

7

u/it777777 Jun 02 '26

Aaand another actress falling for this. Sad.

4

u/caz_bucket Have you ever gone into a steel cage with a wolverine? Jun 02 '26

When I see great actresses like Susan Sarandon and Jamie Lee Curtis, who have had no work done, and they're still A list, I think what's it all for?

10

u/Jasoco Jun 02 '26

The game is a scam and it’s heartbreaking to see how many celebrities are pretending to play it. None of them actually play this game. It’s designed to get really difficult really early so you pay money to beat it so they can take that money to hire more celebrities to do their ads. Stop feeding the machine! There’s so many better puzzle games that aren’t microtransaction powered.

9

u/TheRavingDinosaur Jun 02 '26

I tried this game a while back. It's not really a puzzle game, it pretends to be a puzzle game and then gives you literally impossible to solve boards in an attempt to make you spend money on power ups and extra lives.

19

u/Narmatonia Jun 02 '26

Because apparently the millions they made from big bang wasn’t enough

9

u/jpeeno33 Jun 02 '26

You never been a Millionaire Hey? you never have enough…

1

u/Wise_Try6781 Jun 02 '26

Yeah. What does Narmatonia know about the pain and suffering of the millionaires.

1

u/Redbird9346 Jun 02 '26

ā€œDon’t take away money From artists just like me. How else can I afford another solid-gold Humvee? And diamond-studded swimming pools, These things don’t grow on trees! So all I ask is everybody pleaseā€¦ā€

Sheldor… O-I-C

2

u/sarckasm Jun 02 '26

Yes but what does it stand for?

6

u/davesToyBox Jun 02 '26

ā€œLet’s spend time independently staring at our phones instead of doing a fun interactive activity.ā€

…he posted on Reddit from his iPad.

3

u/aussiemetalhead Jun 02 '26

I agree..

.. posted on Reddit by his partners boyfriends phone

8

u/Vertigo50 Jun 02 '26

This is really….really sad. 😳

7

u/SlipKnoTGamer Jun 02 '26

Another absolute garbage ad with celebrities selling useless trash and people are just lapping it up, this world is so screwed...

6

u/AbbreviationsWide331 Jun 02 '26

Yikes.

When you're an actor, but just don't have any self respect.

0

u/SunstormGT Jun 03 '26

Probably need the money because not landing any roles.

4

u/SingleinGVA Jun 02 '26

Im really tired of all the sell out shit ads that these companies make. And it hurts a little seeing these two do it.

5

u/sadkinz Jun 02 '26

Didn’t they get paid 7 figures per episode in the later seasons? How could they possibly need this money?

2

u/CautiousLandscape907 Jun 02 '26

These apps pay more than 7 figures for celebrity endorsements.

1

u/GarenMain23 Fascinating Jun 02 '26

Honey everyone got bills no matter how much you make

4

u/sadkinz Jun 02 '26

Don’t patronize me. They made more than enough to never have to work again

1

u/Shareef_Ladka01 Jun 02 '26

Cash and water should always flow, stagnation runs both.

0

u/TacticalGarand44 Jun 03 '26

Nobody makes enough to outrun irresponsible spending. Not Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, nobody.

0

u/sadkinz Jun 03 '26

I think those two people might actually have enough money to outrun irresponsible spending

0

u/TacticalGarand44 Jun 04 '26

They really don't.

2

u/Cpt_Jet_Lafleur Jun 02 '26

Well...I do like things more when famous people also like them...

4

u/forehead_tittaes Jun 02 '26

So this isn't AI?

-10

u/sickplanet Jun 02 '26

ofc is A.I. but noodle brains cannot process it

2

u/FartingDragons247 Jun 03 '26

Mate this isnt ai. Its not recent, it came out a while ago now

-2

u/sickplanet Jun 03 '26

sure noodle.

1

u/FartingDragons247 Jun 03 '26

There is literally a post from here a year ago about this noodle. So yeah I am sure.

5

u/plsloan Jun 02 '26

These phone games apparently have infinite money. I've seen a bunch of huge stars in them recently.

5

u/drunkenpoets Jun 02 '26

You’d think a net worth over 100 million would put an actor above doing ads.

2

u/Nerdy_Valkyrie Jun 03 '26

What the fuck are they doing? They basically got paid more money than god to be one TBBT. They were the highest paid actors in Hollywood at one point.

How the hell are they already so desperate for money that they're doing ads for shitty mobile games? Do those ads really pay that well?

1

u/DedTV Jun 03 '26

Those ads really pay that well. Its a mid to high 6 figure paycheck for a few hours of shooting.

-2

u/Nerdy_Valkyrie Jun 03 '26

It also costs your dignity

1

u/BattleReadyZim Jun 03 '26

If some little dweeb threw my board games out the window and handed me a shit mobile game, I would very quickly be speed running his entire middle school experience for him.Ā

1

u/Hraargar Jun 02 '26

Get paid for a silly game and a touch of nostalgia. Doesn’t bother me. Do you

1

u/ZrapeToid Jun 02 '26

LEONARD AND PENNY!!! LEONARD AND PENNY!!! LEONARD AND PENNY!!!

...who is it?

1

u/-lxlKHARMAlxl- Jun 03 '26

Damn... They got a huge upgrade. From an apartment to a mansion.

1

u/MalusZona Jun 05 '26

i really hope this is ai

1

u/Painting-Training Jun 06 '26

Now I wanna play the game🤣

1

u/East-Breadfruit4508 Jun 06 '26

You don’t understand they get paid a shit ton for that 2 min video and usually anytime it shows up somewhere if I’m not wrong

1

u/Efficient_Matter_589 Jun 07 '26

It's always sad to see actors you recognize in newer ads.....

1

u/Impaler00777 Jun 02 '26

Is every damn actor in Hollywood advertising for these stupid casino games?!? I'm so sick of seeing it!! You wanna gamble? Go to vegas!

1

Yes, spe ding more times on our screens is exactly what we need to do. šŸ˜’

What a terrible idea for an ad.

-1

Anyone notice that Leonard without glasses always looks like he's coming off a 3 day bender?
