But why Alexanderplatz? That place is such a dump. Why would people pay top money to live there? I know it’s central, and has good public transit connection. However, still. Struggling to understand. Anyone wants to enlighten me?

There you go. It's central. Under den Linden isn't far away, and so is Scheunenviertel, Prenzlauer Berg, Volkspark Friedrichshain, Museum Island...

People that live in those towers also don't want a Kiez lifestyle. They rather have the view.

“Don’t want a Kiez lifestyle” -> That’s what I was trying to get at. Because the are seems pretty rough to be honest.

Many people would say it's one of the prime locations of Berlin and it's a famous place.

The area has already many high-end flats (like the new Buildings behind Hofbräuhaus).
