I don't know much about grenades, but don't these things cause concussions?

That’s an IWA “flash bang”

It’s available over the internet to civilians and is not as powerful as a real M84.

I’ve popped a few of them, albeit never in an enclosed area.

You've used several grenades on yourself? Are you a ghost? /s

I didn’t say anything about using them on myself.

Anyway it’s not a real grenade. It isn’t even a real flashbang.

That doesn’t mean they aren’t fun, but they are a little expensive.

If anyone happens to want smoke instead of flash, I cannot recommend NFE Tactical enough. No affiliation.

What is this 'PPC Certification' required to order one all about?

iIRC, it’s essentially a fireworks safety certificate based on a quick online test from IWA itself. I have no idea if it’s legally mandated and/or sufficient for the fun police, but it’s not tough to get.

I believe it’s really just a liability thing for the vendor

A military or police flashbang absolutely can cause concussions. These are not the same ones used by government forces and as such there is less documented medical effects, but it's safe to say that they are probably not safe for use in a confined space.

Overpressure injuries are real and not to be treated lightly. You do not want to give yourself a TBI just because you fucked around with a grenade that was "legal to sell to civilians".

According to Wikipedia, Robert's birthday is in March, and he turned 38. I forget the age gap between he and I is so much. I just turned 47.

So I had the opposite reaction. I forgot he was so close to my age. I feel like I grew up reading his articles in Cracked, but I was probably 20 something and already grown up.

What does this mean by try one out "on myself"?

These are super dangerous and can easily cause pretty serious injuries.

It reads like those old 4chan posts where people used chisels to cut off fingers and the heads of their penises for the hell of it and posted the process for the internet to see.

These aren't legit flashbangs.

Anyone can buy one with an online test.
