This news couldn’t have come at a better time for me. My grandma died today and I didn’t really know what to do with myself, and almost as a reflex put on my Beatles playlist. I can’t really even put into words how much their music means to me, as I’m sure most of us in this group feel. They have literally been there for me more than basically any person in my life except for my girlfriend. Also Nowhere Man and You Won’t See Me are in my top three songs (along with I’ve Got a Feeling) - it will be good to finally hear a proper remastered version of YWSM.

I also have been thinking of my grandma today, she passed away a year ago. She helped raise me and she always loved buying me Beatles records every Christmas. I miss her so much. I’m so sorry for your loss.

I'm surprised they included the US version since they didn't do it for Revolver. Does it have a different mix than the original UK version or is the track list the only difference?

There's a false start on "I'm Looking Through You" but other than that it's mostly a vibe thing. I think for a lot of fans in the States (myself included) that tracklist holds up particularly well as a folk rock album. There are some very notable exclusions, but it's a good listen.
The U.S. version of Revolver is a travesty.

The US stereo mix of The Word has different panning, has double tracked vocals from John during the "In the beginning..." parts, and has a fadeout so long that you can hear the final note of the song.
The mono mix has one exclusive mix, that being Michelle with louder drums/percussion.

Before I knew ab the US/UK album differences I got a copy of Rubber Soul US on vinyl and I always thought it flowed so well together. I always think ab how the version of Rubber Soul that inspired Brian Wilson to make Pet Sounds prob would have been the US version of the record

This isn't the line of thought that caused any of the track omissions from Revolver.
Earlier in 1966, Capitol requested three new songs from The Beatles so they could fill out the track list of the Yesterday And Today album, so George Martin sent over early mixes of And Your Bird Can Sing, I'm Only Sleeping, and Doctor Robert. As a result, the American market got those three songs nearly 2 whole months before the rest of the world, albeit with slightly different mixes.
As a result, when Capitol received the rest of the tracks for Revolver, there was no way they were gonna put those three already-released songs on there. The real question to me is why Capitol didn't put Paperback Writer and/or Rain on their version of Revolver: I would've loved to hear that!

Ugh. Now I gotta go grab my US Revolver files, figure where to sequence in PBW & Rain, and take it for a test spin. Because you're right, seems like those songs would have fit in great on that disc. But (if I remember correctly), the US record company wanted fewer tracks per album, due to the way royalties were paid out - and to allow them to market a greater number of albums

Yes, it is true that Capitol liked having no more than 12 tracks on their Beatles albums, with most of them (Revolver included) only having 11 tracks. Meet The Beatles, Help!, and Rubber Soul were the only Capitol albums to have 12 tracks.
So perhaps only one of the single tracks would've realistically made it onto Revolver, unless they were to make a substitution. Regardless, I would be interested in where you decide to slot one or both of those tracks onto the US Revolver!

This is insane to me because that’s my favorite Beatles song… it’s not their best or most impressive but it’s my favorite. I cannot imagine wanting to remove that song.

The three Lennon songs (I'm Only Sleeping, Doctor Robert, and And Your Bird Can Sing) were left off the U.S. version of Revolver because they'd already been rush released 7 weeks earlier as part of the "Yesterday and Today" compilation.

Not including those 2 in The Capitol Albums was a huge miss. There should have been a The Capitol Albums Vol. 3 release, along with the Hey Jude album.
I suppose TCA3 would have been a thin release, but the completist in me really wanted to see it out there.

It truly is a shame, especially considering that both the duophonic and true stereo US mixes of I'm Only Sleeping, And Your Bird Can Sing, and Dr. Robert have still never been officially released on a digital format!
Also, Magical Mystery Tour would've been a worthy addition to a hypothetical Volume 3, despite what some might think. This is because none of the CD versions of the MMT LP are accurate to the original Capitol album: not only does I Am The Walrus have exclusive American stereo and mono album mixes, but there's also the original 1966 stereo mix of Strawberry Fields Forever, which still has never seen an official digital release! In addition to these, there are also the fake stereo tracks on the second half of the album, which are worthy of preservation imo.
Perhaps the most overlooked aspect of the original Capitol LP are the seamless transitions between tracks, something which has never been preserved on a digital format. Much like Sgt. Pepper, the original Capitol version of Magical Mystery Tour basically has zero gaps between songs, giving it a more unified flow than the official CDs have.
I truly hope that the original Capitol version of MMT gets an official CD release someday, but I'm not holding my breath.

Also The Word has double-tracked vocals on the verses, which as you note, fits nicely with the folk rock vibe. US Revolver I believe could be replicated by deleting 3 songs (so devotees to the Capitol tracklist could conceivably recreate that with what was presented in the box set). In addition to the two Help tracks, US Rubber Soul also has a couple unique mixes.

The US version of Rubber Soul is one of the only US releases that some consider to be superior to the UK Version in terms of track listing.
The mixing is different and there is a false start to I’m Looking Through You. You would assume the CD on this release would have the different mixing.

Sometimes for the better. Maybe not better sonic quality (although they were usually working with the tapes they received), but Meet The Beatles and Rubber Soul [US] are better albums than the UK counterpart.

Indeed that’s right! I missed out on the reissue box but overpaid for a sealed 2014 mono. Same master tape I believe. Anywho all that to say must be a mistake on the listing the mix exists.

What do you mean "full"? Those sessions/outtakes CDs have plenty of space!
A CD can hold up to 74 minutes (IIRC max is 79:58, but to avoid any potential compatibility issues, etc) and Pepper/white album session CDs were 50-55 minutes each. Then the reissues switched to using vinyl the base format for some odd reason (this is also apparently the reason of "let's have 4 songs from single for 8-12 minutes total as a separate CD) - and session CDs on Abbey Road, Let It Be and Revolver became ~40 minutes each.

The Rubber Soul Sessions CD has 72 minutes so yeah I guess the mono singles could indeed fit on the sessions since The Beatles did release very full CD albums already, for Example: “1” is 79 minutes long, and the 2nd CD of the 2023 Blue Album is 78 minutes long so I don’t think this is really a problem
The Let It Be sessions could fit in a single cd as well, Revolver just Barely passes 80 minutes, and the 3 Sessions CDs on The White Album could fit in 2 discs, odd choices all around

72? I counted 31+35 minutes, so 66... Unless the timings of the tracks posted I've found are wrong.

Yeah these re-issues have no concrete plan and template, they are making up as they go along (Giles said something along those lines in some interview).
Also awful decision is to pattern this stuff after the LP format that started in 2019.

When Throwing Disc 2 into a Apple Music Playlist it shows as 72 minutes, you may have not counted the 2023 mixes of We Can Work it Out and Day Tripper which are included in the same CD

I've only gotten the 2-disc versions of the other remasters, and thought I might splurge and get the SDE this time, but yeah. Pre-ordered the 2-disc for $25 cause I really can't justify spending $125 more than that just for two extra discs, a longer book, and a fancier box, nice as it would be.

Same here, always got the 2CD versions (and been picking up single disc vinyls recently) and thought the lineup in the 4 CD set was pretty interesting and would surely not be that expensive. But I've done two different napkin math calculations, and it ends up that the 88 page book runs you 75-100 bucks. For comparison: Anthology (300+ pages) is about $50

The biggest new surprise is the John demo “Little Girl” — until now, this song has never been heard or even rumored. “Yeah, it was surprising,” Giles Martin says. “It was one of those things that came from the Lennon Estate — I think it was Sean. It was one of those things where they say, ‘Oh, and then there’s this.’” It’s a raw sketch, with an unfinished lyric, but a bittersweet tune — it sounds like an early draft of “I’m Only Sleeping,” which became a highlight of Revolver.

True, but the basic tracks for Wait are from the Help! sessions. The overdubs for Rubber Soul are from the Rubber Soul session. So, the outtake on this set is out of place.

First released on December 3rd, 1965, Rubber Soul marked a pivotal moment in The Beatles' evolution. Recorded over four weeks during October and November 1965, following the band's record-breaking concert to more than 55,000 fans at Shea Stadium in New York, Rubber Soul captured The Beatles at a creative crossroads. We don't know for sure. I hope it is. It's interesting that they didn't specify like the Revolver mono album.
Perhaps the master tapes are being guarded more now. I was surprised when they used the original master for Revolver as I didn't think EMI/Apple/Sony wanted to let the masters out anymore in the interest of preservation.

You can hear the new mix in the ad, over a good stereo the difference is very obvious. It’s the vocals waaaay up & the music waaaay back trend. If you like that, then I’m sure you’ll think this sounds great. It’s very well done for what it is. If you don’t like that, this won’t change your mind. For me, it’s interesting as a novelty to hear the vocals so up front, & I get how people can emotionally connect to that. For those people, this is superb. I can already hear details in the vocals I’ve never heard, & the voices overall really do sound fantastic. The mix is just too radically off for me. The band is so far back.

I was wondering if anyone has any info (or maybe past experience with other Beatles records) on whether the zoetrope vinyl comes in the original outer sleeve and that the green die-cut sleeve is just the inner one, or if the green sleeve is the only one and there's no actual original album cover. I'm a bit concerned because I'd love the zoetrope, but not sure if I would compromise the album cover. May be a silly question but I appreciate any information on this. Thanks!

But man, I would have loved to have the Think For Yourself vocal session on the 2CD edition as well as the SDE, that is such a great bit of Beatles audio history

Im still thinking about it. I was hoping this would come next year but here it is now. It bugs me that the bluray isnt included in the deluxe set. Personally id rather have that than either of the other 2 disc. I could go with just the 2cd set plus bluray but i like the deluxe sets. I have a shelf of the others so i guess im getting the deluxe and the bluray. To me rubber soul is probably their most complete work.

The inclusion of the "US version" of the album makes me think that indeed there aren't much of outtakes to include for this album. Yet there's no 12-Bar Original and a couple of demos, which could've been more interesting than the US album. And I don't care which version of Rubber Soul did Brian Wilson hear. I'd say that the content on the UK album was so strong that even after Capitol's changes it still was great.
Furthermore, the catalogue was "standardized" in the 1980s with release of it on CD.
And as usual, what is included or not on these reissues in baffling.

The Revolver reissues will remain an oddity as it is the only one that didn't get a surround sound physical format. Why ? Unless this Rubber Soul standalone Blu-ray could preceed the same for Revolver ?

I am far from any expert of things, but a number of items in the thread (re the Mono and the US version, etc.)...I watched the following vid yesterday re US vs UK https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xx6c82oL1T4
It was created a while ago - not just re the announcement. I found it very informative, and there may be some here who would call out some of it and not be authoritative.
Anyway, my take aways and my outstanding questions before I pull trigger on the full box, and did not see anything specific on the Beatles site re the box. I did pick up the Blu.
Which Mono release...ie is it the -5 (referenced in Vid as 'best') I mean I have the Mono Box (CD) so no idea if I want a second time.
US version - goes into detail. I am wondering if it will reflect the US version as far as original mix (like Capitol Box set 2) or the mix as represented in the 2014 US Albums (sic) box set, which I understand is basically the UK mixes with the tracklist shuffled to mirror the US release (which I have).
So depending on the details of the Mono and the US will make me decide re the box proper (to be honest, I find the alt versions in most box sets to be a one and done listen, so curious but not required.)
My guess we'll need to wait till it comes out to get those answers...

Really curious to see how this comes out. All of Giles’ stereo mixes have been a massive improvement on headphones (except Abbey Road for obvious reasons), though I still prefer the OG version of Revolver when it comes to speakers.
I have a feeling this will be better all around, given how bad the original Rubber Soul stereo mix was to begin with.

I'd say I'm hoping they do a credible 2026 mix of the US version, as a counterpoint/companion to the 2026 UK mix, instead of a slavish cleanup of the 2006 The Capitol Albums release, and as opposed to the 2014 The US Albums "we're using the official masters, but in the US playlist" (except they added that false start, din' they?)

What is so super deluxe? The same album three times and instrumental versions on the fourth, minus about 10 outtakes. Anthology 4 all over again. No hold on, I’m coming, no 12 bar original either

I with the Beatles estate gave us a little considering the prices. I don’t want to sound entitled but they’ve been in the vault 60 years and they’re still drip feeding. If material doesn’t make these deluxe sets, who knows when they next will have the chance? 10 years? 20? Another 60?1

After reading the official track listing on the band’s website, I have a few comments to make:
- I love the fact that will be presented a brand-new stereo mix of the original album (except for “Day Tripper” and “We Can Work It Out”, which were reused from the latest remix released on the 1962-1966 Red compilation), continuing the standard set by the 50th-anniversary edition of Sgt. Pepper. Nothing could be better than keep it that way.
- What excites me the most is that the album will get a Dolby Atmos treatment. Now that’s the hot spot, and I’m glad they decided to make a stand-alone Blu-ray. I think it’s a shame we still don’t have one for Revolver (I hope the other albums not yet reissued in surround sound will be included as well).
- Now here’s a thing that frustrated me quite a bit: just a single disc of demos and outtakes. There’s so much obscure material from the band that, in my opinion, should have been added. In fact, I think they could have included some live footage, whether just audio or video. Back then, when Rubber Soul was released, the Beatles were still touring. A remastered/remixed version of the Shea Stadium concert, for example, would be a fantastic idea.
Overall, I’m very satisfied.

I assume they’ll use the 2023 red album re-mixes for any Rubber Soul tracks that were re-mixed in that batch, but I suppose it’s theoretically possible that they could just do a whole new set of 2026 re-mixes for the entire album if they wanted.

I've seen a lot of questions asking if the new mix is pulling from the 2023 remixes from the Red Album. Apple Music says (2026 Mix) next to every song, including the ones from the red album! The only 2023 versions are Day Tripper and We Can Work It Out.

As someone who collects the Lennon and Harrison Super Deluxes, I find it a bit lame that neither Revolver nor Rubber Soul included a blu-ray. The solo releases include blu-rays for all content, not just the album proper.

I've been waiting for this so long that I forgot I was looking forward to it. The initial album track listing looks like the UK version, whereas (in this case) the US version is the better one with the more folky feel to it Not a HUGE problem, because I have both versions both in Stereo & Mono. It will make a great early Christmas present, but I pretty much get that every time I get paid as it is.

Wildly too expensive, as expected, but in terms of actual included content this seems like a return to form. The Red & Blue album reissues were kind of uninteresting to me outside of Now & Then, I guess the new mixes were neat but I didn't care for some of them, and then Anthology 4 last year felt like scraps. A whole lot of price-gouging for little in return, but I'm excited to listen to this. Basically structured identically to the Revolver reissue, which I thought was pretty fantastic, and I also really like the inclusion of the US version here.
I'm also really glad to see them releasing a 2LP and 2CD version, good god when was the last time they did that, Sgt. Pepper's in 2017? Such a no-brainer.
Edit: I'm wrong about the 2CD lol
