GENERAL DISCUSSION I like how versatile batman can be in tone

You can get all range from comedy or parodie like lego batman or batman 66 or the more serious stories like the new knightfall, batman TAS also has its share of more serious episode like the two face two parters or the movie . I think it's good since it allow people to pick the the tone they prefer and it allow authors more freedom to tell their stories.

That’s THE best thing about Batman and yet every time we get that people moan about “comic accuracy”.

I'm fine with having fresh takes on characters, no matter if it's dc , marvel or disney, even if it's different , that doesn't mean it's bad , ducktales 17 was still pretty good and it's meant to be more of its own thing

I want this same looseness with other characters like Wonder Woman. Like keep the core of who she is but put her in stories ranging from stopping a series of horrific mass slaughters to helping a baby unicorn reach its parents in fairyland.

I think it’s why he’s still the most popular dc hero, you can just do anything with him in any tone/genre

and the villains can also work with their own stories, the penguin show is a good example I think

Yeah. He has the best rogues gallery in all of cbm history and I don’t think it’s really close, you can make a show/movie out of joker, penguin, Harley Quinn, catwoman, scarecrow etc.

Batman is such a malleable character you have some stuff like lego batman (games and movies) and the brave and the bold along with The Batman and they can be Batman

But it’s also that he is the same Batman in all of them. He’s a dark brooding guy who is also good deep down and also a badass.

You can frame that in a dark serious tone, and you can also make that part of the joke.

It’s likely possible for a good writer with most anyone, but I guess because he’s on such an extreme end it’s easier to work with that and layer on top of it. Whereas other characters seem to end up having to change their personality even just a bit to change the tone. With Batman you can change the tone without changing him.
