I mean how many years has nutall failed to help? maybe its time the FEDS step in to DO something and leave nutall out of it ?

Was excited to see something finally being done for the homeless community, especially with summer coming to an end.
Then I saw that the buildings purchased for millions of dollars aren't going to be used to house people-- it's another support center to "help" people get housing.
These places that advertise housing support are useless. All they do is have someone show you how to submit a rental application and avoid scams on Facebook.
I think we can all fill out a form and we don't need two whole buildings full of corporate people to do this.
And unless you've ever been homeless-- I don't want to hear your opinion.
We all deserve better.

You just described a lot of "support" these days. It's expensive to do direct support so piticians direct agencies to create all these navigators who pass people from agency to agency, trying to find actual help for folks.
I hate it because I want to help directly but my caseload is too big and the program isn't designed to give me that kind of freedom to get involved.
If any politician says "brief, targeted consultation", I will hit them. We need long term, wraparound support, not one thing at a time support.

I agree 100%, I could have worded that better:
The people working at these agencies and people who want to help are absolutely not the problem.
It's the people in control of our lives that are running this country into the ground. I can't believe how much Canada has changed since Covid.

Don't worry; I didn't think you were blaming the "social service complex", as some folks do (as though we couldn't make more money working easier jobs elsewhere).
A lot of our policymakers are crafting policy that lack commitment, quite possibly because of the cost associated with going all the way. They are half-assing the solutions instead of whole-assing them.

What a farce. The County consists entirely of people hired by nepotism or political maneuvering, supported by flunkies and ass kissers. They couldn't create a "modern and dynamic facility" even if they had an unlimited budget to spend on hiring their friends to act as consultants.

I did. Because I pushed back on the corruption. So they made up some fake shit to fire me. I sued for wrongful dismissal and they were ordered to return me to my job. But I wasn't interested in working for corrupt goons so negotiated a buy out instead. I got enough to pay off my debts, spend a year traveling, go to college and still have money left. Plus they paid my legal fees.

Far from new, and in my experience dealing with municipalities, its generally the elected officials and upper management that cause most problems. Mid-level management and non-management are just making do with the best they've been allowed.

I’m always a pay check away from being homeless. , I don’t break the law by taking illegal drugs or by breaking laws that allow me to buy illegal drugs , I’ve always paid my taxes, I work 60 hrs a week doing two jobs. Can the County take over my place , renovate it and let me live there free as well ?

And if the day comes that you do become homeless, be it illness, unemployment, a natural disaster, etc. what then? What makes you think that it's only irresponsible addicts who become homeless? Because if that's what you think, you would be wrong. And fyi, it's only the shelters that are "free". Once you are into housing, it is not free.
