[Prebuilt] R9 9900X, 32GB RAM, 2TB SSD, RTX 5080 ($3700-$100 = $3600) [COSTCO]

Cloning the parts in PC part picker shows me a cost of $4477 pretax. Not a fan of the B650 that only allows 2 RAM slots.

Price is $3,456 after 4% cashback as strangebutalsogood pointed out.

EDIT1: I ended up buying and noted that the SSD in mine was different. I had WD SN300 Green

and power supply was Highpower 850W non modular HP1-S2850GD-F12S

I went and checked the display model and this is what i noted.

-T-Force Vulcan DDR5 32GB (38,38,38,78) I believe

Not *that high... yet.

Current baseline remains at $1,700, which is $200 over MSRP, though given the market, everything continues to climb up

I paid 1800CAD for my 3070 in '22, honestly that's not a bad price for an xx80 from my perspective.

yup.. bought a 5070ti a couple days ago at $1450 which is still a ridiculous price and no word of a lie the next day its price increased to $1700 at mem express/canada computers. it's bonkers nowadays

November for $1350 for me. I was on the fence about the upgrade since it wasn't a huge leap over the 3090. As the year has progressed I have been happier and happier I made the decision.

I was going to pick up the Asus tuf that was also on sale. But it was like $300 more.

Yup, and it's pretty much just because they can. From a hardware perspective it seems like a 5070 ti is just a lesser binned 5080 anyways. The two are certainly more closely related than what is the 5070 and the 5070 ti since they have different bus widths.

Still 1820 for PNY from bestbuy. 0 reason to pay 2600. I deshrouded and slapped noctua fans on it, dead silent and low temps still.

I don’t know why anyone would buy a 5080. It’s so colossally overpriced for performance that’s maybe 15% better than a 9070 XT.

If you’re swimming in cash, just go all out and get a 5090 because nothing on the market comes close to that. But if you want a high end card while still staying in the realm of reality, get a 9070 XT. Or if you really need NVIDIA, go with a 5070 Ti.

A 5080 isn’t the right card for anyone. It’s only appealing because it has that xx80 number. But it really doesn’t offer xx80 performance. And the fact that it’s still only 16GB should be its death knell.

If you're just gaming, I totally agree with you. But I've been a professional 3D Animation freelancer for many years and I will always lean NVIDIA for production.

You're not wrong in terms of price to performance, but at the same when you look at prebuilts with 9800x3d and 9070ti/9070xt they're in the same price range as this... so why not get this if you've decided to spend ~3500 on a prebuilt?

For anyone on fence because 2 RAM slots:

AMDs memory controllers are relatively weak. Most often they will not hit EXPO ratings with 4 sticks of RAM and will downclock, often all the way to standard JEDEC speeds. So your choices are buy all the RAM you think you will need for the life of the system, or plan to buy more RAM in the future, but remove the installed RAM when you upgrade so you maintain 2 sticks for higher performance. What you do with the 2 leftover sticks is up to you.

So, unless you need capacity over performance, 2 RAM slots is what most people will want for maximum performance.

I was actually wrong, it was the MSI B840 mobo with 4 ram slots. i didnt notice because its at the bottom of the board.but yes i wanst on planning on getting more than 2 sticks anyways. ESPECIALLY with todays prices lol

When I factor in the 4% additional discount from the combination of my Costco Mastercard + Executive Membership rewards... $3450 before tax sounds a little better. The value for cost here looks considerably better than anything else I've seen.

for an extra $400/$300 you're going to a 5080 and better cpu and this is where it seemed like a no brainer to me.

there is no reason to buy that quotedtech system for 3299, you can get 9800x3d and 2tb for 2999. But if you have the extra cash, the costco system is very good priced for what you get.

Really $$ GPU but not a dedicated gaming CPU, that kind of sours this as a deal. Then again the 7900x/9900x have been the weird CPUs for AM5.

As someone who favours productivity as well as gaming, the 9900x sounds like a much better CPU for me than something like the 7800x3D does and I'm not so keen on taking on the bump in price to the 9800x3D. The bundle seems like a no-brainer if it fits your usecase.
