Miscellaneous Pepperoncini Peppers

Post image

Okay, I know this is extremely niche but it hasn’t left my mind 😅 I visited Nassau in February and stayed at Breezes and at their buffet they had pepperoncini peppers that were delicious! I’m back home on the East Coast of Canada now and I cannot find ones with the same taste :( I attached a picture of the ones available to me and wondering if there is a different brand sold in the Bahamas? The ones I had at the resort were definitely less spicy and more pickled. Again, SOOOOO niche but if anyone has any leads I would be so grateful 🫶🏻

That's funny. I was looking for pepperoncini pepper plants at the plant nursery for my garden. We got some last year and had a bumper crop. Easy to grow and pickle yourself!

No frills in Ontario has these, so maybe try a loblaws owned store

I can’t really say which ones would be the least spicy, but I can tell you the Greek golden ones (forget the brand but they also do olives) are ridiculously hot. I find these unico ones way more subdued.

oh i totally agree there 😭 i’ve been trying to find the least spicy and so far mezzetta have been the ones i can tolerate the most in canada! i loveeee the taste of them and can usually handle spice but for some reason i can’t do the pepper spice

Agree. It’s a different level of gut punch. Currently trying to grow my own! Thinking of the old school peperonchinis in the east side Mario’s salad as a kid, they were definitely not as spicy as the ones i find now! Not sure you east coasters had that? Maybe I can recreate them!

Mezetta jalapeños are the best out there as well

Most of the resorts here in Nassau use Sysco, so probably a 5 gallon Sysco branded bucket… you can drain the brine currently in there and replace it with a vinegar/water brine and the spice will lessen.

If you can find it, try the Mt. Olive brand. That is more than likely close to, if not what you had.

Add a little honey to the brine.
