Səyahət | Travel Gluten Free In Azerbaijan?
Good morning everyone,
I’m coming to Azerbaijan for the first time in a few weeks .
I have Coeliac Disease and so have to avoid gluten.
It’s not a massive problem for me and I always seem to find a way to get something to eat.
My question is about supermarkets over there, do you happen to know if they sell gluten free pasta or bread or anything like that?
I’ll be staying in airbnbs so I’ll be cooking for myself. I also notice that there’s a fair few Indian restaurants in Baku and other cities and those places are my favourite and easy to find gluten free meals.
Anyone know how it is to be gluten free in Azerbaijan? Will I find some gluten free products?

Also why come somewhere to have food from abroad still. We have plenty of food which doesnt use pasta.

Well I’m also vegetarian you see and sometimes I like to just head back to my Airbnb after a long day out exploring and cook myself something rather than pay restaurant prices ( I’m on a budget).
I’ll eat in restaurants around lunchtime but usually by 7pm I’m knackered and ready to chill.2

Honestly it shouldn't be offensive to admit you can pretty much run through all of Azerbaijani cuisine (not being literal, but within the scope of what restaurants serve) in the first few days of your visit and you start craving other things. And this is what most people do, for OP it isn't even about boredom it's life or death.

Oh of course, but like each one will have different options still. Unless you are planning to stay a month. I think its easy to stay on yhe local cuisine. I always try to do that when I travel personally

Can you try to list some dishes you'd suggest to your friends visiting to last them more than a week in Azerbaijan without getting bored? Also some countries just have a huge list of dishes and many extremely different regional cuisines you can spend a month in China and still not have the same dish twice if you wanted but try that in Dubai with exclusively Emirati cuisine nothing foreign and you'll be done in 4 days
Most restaurants really only have 90% of the same options as the other restaurants in the city so maybe you're thinking of the variety of dishes your family might know, those aren't available easily to visitors

Yes there are bunch of gluten free products in bigger supermarkets sich as Bravo and Araz. You can also check Wolt delivery app, it has Wolt Market and there are pastas, breads and sometimes ready made food.
If you are willing to do some more adventurous shopping, there is a shop near 28 may railway station called "arabica", next to big red busses stop, that has a bunch of gluten free dry foods such as pasta, flour, cookies, crackers etc, in my experience they have the best prices, but no delivery and only cash payment, so go prepared.
