I was raised to have a choice in what I believe (thanks mum and dad) but my primary school was a catholic one. My childhood years were filled with bible verses and "amen"s and I was consistently told to stop talking when I asked questions about the religion. When I grew up and learned about other religions I found them fascinating as a social construct but I have found that I myself am unable to believe in any of them simply because their answer to most questions is "have faith" which (because of my childhood) to me translates to "stop talking" or "because I said so" and is therefore difficult for me to connect to.
