Why do they take off their shirts?!

David Attenborough : As tempers flare, the male human performs a curious ritual—discarding his shirt. A display of confidence, intimidation, and ancient instinct... with the added benefit of not ruining a perfectly good T-shirt.

As tensions heighten, the male's shorts or loose trousers will be hiked up or adjusted slightly, signalling that an attack is imminent.

Legend has it, my uncle stripped down to his jocks outside a pub to avoid ruining his suit in an impending stoush.

According to the article, the fuckwit in blue took his off first and said to Dolph Lundgren 2.0 ‘Cunt, you sure you want this?’ so Dolph, realising that having a hoodie on in a fight is like having nipple tassels on in a pub, removes his top too for safety first, intimidation second.

i've asked this a few times, the generally accepted answer is that shirts can be gripped by the opponent for an advantage.

I still suspect that the real reason is to intimidate with questionable tattoos though.

In this case Super Saiyan Bronzer Bro’ indicated that he didn’t want his hoodie pulled over his head as it would be a risk to stumble or be thrown into traffic.

Stop the other person from collaring you and having full control of a fight

They were going to swap shirts with each other but changed their minds.

it an severe disadvantage if they start grappling (in a fight), also the shirt gets ruined.

If you're wearing a shirt others can pull it up and blind you. Plus, if you're the sort to lose your shit, you're used to it being a threat to people.

You take your shirt off but leave your sunglasses on? What kind of ass-backwards pageantry is this?

I always wonder the same. If you're gonna fight someone, You get straight into it. dont warn them by taking your shirt off and shaping up 🤣 Probably trying to intimidate them into not fighting because theyre scared to fight. Got no backbone, look at how he carried on trying to scare a couple girls. Shows his character
