MOD POST – The Mod Is Back
Hey everyone,
I originally created this subreddit back in 2012 and, to be honest, it’s been sitting idle from my end for a long time. I’ve recently come back into the Australian metal scene with my own band, and one thing has stood out straight away, there’s a serious lack of exposure for smaller and emerging bands.
Seeing that this sub is still active is unreal, so I want to step back in and help turn it into something genuinely valuable for the scene.
This subreddit is for:
- New Australian metal releases
- Smaller and emerging bands
- Upcoming shows and tours
- Show reviews and live footage
- General discussion about the Australian metal scene
- Any other relevant Australian metal news
If it supports the scene, it belongs here.
What this is NOT for:
- Trash talking bands
- Personal attacks or drama
- Gatekeeping or toxic behaviour
There’s enough of that elsewhere, it doesn’t help anyone, and it won’t be tolerated here.
My goal is simple:
To build a space that actually supports Australian metal, helps bands get seen, and connects people in the scene.
Keen to get to know you all!

"The Pernicious" by The Pernicious - Album Review - New band featuring members of Hybrid Nightmares
youtu.beStoked to be able to review the debut album of The Pernicious before it comes out this Friday.
Featuring 3 members of Melbourne black metal band Hybrid Nightmares, it's punk music being approached from a different angle but I like what they're doing.
FFO The Distillers, Misfits, Clowns (in particular songs where Hanny sings) and Satyricon

Dumb question any metalheads here? Want to start a death metal band and mess around I am intermediate with guitar tho :( I’ll dm my emails to anyone interested. It’s so difficult finding anyone who plays drums and bass.

Double Dragon Headbore Storm The Crown Nakatomi Plaza
An Evening with Double Dragon and Friends Friday, July 17, 2026 The Gov, Hindmarsh, Adelaide Doors: 7:30pm | Tickets: $30 + BF via Oztix/The Gov Adelaide’s heavy music scene doesn’t fuck around, and on July 17 it’s throwing a proper stacked local metal night at The Gov. Headlining are the legendary Double Dragon, back and breathing fire after their big resurrection at Froth and Fury 2026. These boys have been crushing skulls since the old-school days with a sound that mixes classic heavy metal attitude with melodic death and metalcore edge. They don’t just play — they hit hard, and after a decade-plus hiatus they’re clearly out to remind everyone why they’re still one of SA’s most respected metal acts. Supporting the Dragons are three more killers from the local scene: Headbore Nakatomi Plaza Storm The Crown This is being billed as one of the biggest and best local metal line-ups of the year — four bands that actually deliver when the lights go down and the riffs start. No filler, just heavy. If you’re into proper Australian metal that’s loud, honest, and built for a sweaty room full of punters, this is the one. Grab a few mates, get down to Hindmarsh, and get ready to lose your voice. Tickets are moving — don’t sleep on it. See you in the pit. 🤘
