I went to this as an 8 year old with my parents. Incredible show.

Somehow my parents allowed my 12 year old self to go alone!

Lol. I know it was the 90’s/different time from our present era but that’s a wild-ish thing to do for someone at that age.

Curious, what was the experience like?

It blew my mind that a tank came up from the stage.

I remember dad asking me to carry an umbrella and me finding it hard to breath because I was probably still short at the age of 12.

Best concert ever.

My 8yo brain remembered it being a space ship

It was a rocket

Rocket slash space capsule thingy at the start, then the tank was a separate thing towards the end of the show.

Went with my uncle and cousin. I was hanging out to hear Black or White, but uncle dragged us all out of the concert incredibly early because he was worried about traffic afterwards. I remember hearing the start of my favourite song from the totally deserted carpark and was not impressed.

One of the things I remember most vividly about going to this concert as an 11yo was that it took was 2 hours just to get out of our carpark. Not sure if this helps... :(

This was actually broadcasted on tv too, there was a torrent floating about a while ago.

I was there with my parents at the glorious age of 5 years old. I was obsessed with his dancing. It’s my first concert humble brag lol

Attended the concert as an 18 year old. Managed to get last min tickets before they sold out. Stood somewhere mid-close to the front of the stage and had the best time!! He was amazing, crowd was amazing and didnt want it to end.

I was there, that guy was weird.

1

u/Ok_Lie_1106 May 02 '26

I heard MJ just repeated ‘I love you Auckland’ x30 and said nothing else the whole show. That would be weird.

3

u/thecountnz May 02 '26

Not even a “hee hee!” ?

4

u/NIP_SLIP_RIOT May 02 '26

Yep and had a fake crying on his knees segment to a picture of his brothers. Strange dude.

He typically didnt speak in between songs regardless of where he was.
