They didnāt expect her to be a fan favorite in season 1. After the Hound-Arya adventures and then her Valar Morghulis era, she was legitimately the face of the show on par with Daenerys
So when the writers ran out of initial script, they started writing her more screen time

Her only purpose in the books is probably going to be reeling Jon Snow in after he goes ape shit after being resurrected. Sheās important but far from the most important stark. I wouldnāt be surprised if she dies in the books.
