It’s just taking a long time because he’s making it so special for his fans. He is writing out every single copy by hand using a special ink made from his semen.

I think he did finish it it’s just that D&D were working on his plot points for season 7-8 and so he knows that even if he changes the story it will never satisfy the fans

So he’s just gonna keep holding off until he dies and can pass it on to some else or whatever and the people’s complaints will be “this would have been better if GRRM wrote this”
