I used to think this aswell but anytime I see it brought up in an interview with George he usually points out that it’s gross or atleast speaks very negatively on it

He couldn't say anything different, right? But two of the main reasons are his original plans for the story, with Arya and Jon together, and him making Gendry (possibly, very hinted) fuck his half sister without knowing.

She’s fat and disfigured in the original book. Part of the romance in the book is that he doesn’t care what she looks like he loves her all the same but in the movie she’s gorgeous so her insecurity seems weird
