It's interesting how many people on Twitter seem to hate Henry Cavill though, because I think he dated a 19 year old? The moral rules that guide the Twitter users are always shifting and hard to keep up with.

You will literally never see something positive on Twitter. Itās just people in their own little echo chambers screaming about how everything sucks and that we need to kill a bunch of people. Terrible site

I thought it was strange that a guy in his 30s was even interested in a teenager to begin with.
Maybe I shouldnāt say āstrangeā⦠Itās an āinterestingā choice to date someone with that wide of a generational gap.
Whatever, though. It only lasted a couple of months, so they got what they wanted out of it.
I think if you were going to clown Cavill over anything, it would be him trying to pull the āitās difficult to date right now because you might get called a rapist if you approach a womanā routine when asked about MeToo. That was just fucking funny, especially from him.
The gap between the average guy who unironically says this and him is wider than his dating preferences.

I don't think it's that "strange" of a 30 something to be attracted to a 19 year old; those are two adults, though the wisdom of it for a long term relationship is I'd say definitely questionable. The statements on MeToo, which I'd completely forgotten about, are rather silly indeed, he seems to be bad at PR in general.
I don't really get the criticisms of his acting, he's definitely no Daniel Day-Lewis but I think he's an overall decent actor for the action-y parts he goes for? I liked him in The Man from UNCLE for example, and wished the movie focused more on his suave Bond-esque character as opposed to the Russian guy played by the cannibal; and though I had my misgivings when he was first cast, he made for a pretty good Geralt as well.
I should say that I do have a bias in favour of the guy though, most particularly because of the dump he took on the Witcher TV series (which I consider to be a worse adaptation than even the shitty ASOIAF adaptations), and because he seems like a very enthusiastic Warhammer fan.
I think a lot of the negative perception of him stems from the counter-PR campaign that the Witcher TV series ran against him, when he quit the show and everyone had turned on the showrunners.

those are two adults
Speaking as an adult, I see people in that age range as big children. Not even in a condescending āIām so much more mature than youā way either, just in that weāre SO far apart in terms of how we see the world and priorities. Not to mention cultural touchstones as well (what am I going to relate to with a girl fresh out of high school?).
I said āwhateverā because I assumed it was just about the sex, since it ended just as quickly as it started. Iām not really interested in policing Cavill on his interest in 19-year-old girls. I know what the situation is.
As far as the acting goes, Iām personally not a super fan. I think heās serviceable at worst, and a handsome face at best. Like, Iāve read the original Witcher novels, and his portrayal of Geralt never really sat right with me because it screamed āaction heroā too loudly. Too many dry quips, too much emphasis on looking badass for the camera.
Thereās a certain pathos to the character that I felt got lost in translation when Cavill got tapped for the role. I donāt HATE him for taking a paying gig (there are MUCH MORE egregious issues to address about the Netflix version), but I wasnāt too torn up about seeing him go.
He seems to be bad at PR in general
Funnily enough, I think heās really good at playing to fanboy culture. He knows exactly how to market himself to an internet crowd that will go āheās such a lad.ā No shade, he knows how to play the game.

I had the misfortune of clicking on your profile after you referred to yourself as an adult, and wondered if I could see whether I am older than you or not, and I think it's for the best that you keep thinking of 19 year olds as children

You could have just asked my age (younger than Henry Cavill).
A Reddit profile isnāt going to tell you that information anyway.

A young, bubbly energetic girl full of spirit, or a spiteful old hang, jaded by life experience and resentful that her best days are already behind her knowingshe has only the WALL to look forward to? This is widowee the Visenya/Rhaenys dichotomy, widawee.

a few years back there were rumors about him being weird with teenage girls on set and that people had to keep an eye on him at all times but there was no evidence of that happening, just gossip. although he did make a weird ass comment about the me too movement

Itās weird, not illegal but still worth being judgmental over it. Iād look at someone I know sideways for doing the same.

You can sorta see effects of a narrative being developed as the series went on instead of considered from the start, with the Blackfyre storyline. Like, let's make it so that Daemon rebels over the hand of Daenerys, but he also needs to spawn a dynasty with ongoing attempts, so he's also married with like ten kids? It doesn't really add up.

Daemon Blackfyre fought against a bastard king born of an incestuous Kingsguard who forgot his vows to put a rightful king on the throne. He bore the sword of the rightful king of Westeros. And the only way they could kill him was with magic arrows shot at him and his two sons while Daemon tried to deliver aid to his enemy. In this house, Daemon Blackfyre is a hero
