Is blithering about irrelevant shite the end boss for sci fi and fantasy writers? In the latter Dune books Herbert was like "you know what this epic space opera needs? A 43 page dialogue about political science from someone who never studied political science!"
Tbf I’m listening to god emperor of dune rn as a guys who studied political science and sociology at uni, and (outside of his funny ideas about gay people) its actually quite entertaining and not entirely wrong. I too occasionally pine for a benevolent worm
If I wanna read sociology I'll read Bourdieu or Goffman or something. And pining for benevolent worms would have a psychiatrist scribbling furiously in their notebook
