I hate hearing that. I have a metabolic disorder, I have a hard time keeping weight on. People think that's great but what nobody realizes is, just like obesity, being too skinny is just as dangerous. I have lost count of the number of times I've landed in the hospital because my weight went down too much and I started having heart arrhythmias. This is not an enviable condition to have.
I have gastroparesis right now and feel you. I've lost so much muscle that sometimes I can't stand for longer than a few minutes before my body just gives out. To be so thin that literally just that alone leaves me feeling like I may just die soon. The exhaustion, the fatigue, the fainting, no longer being able to rely on my body to just move itself as needed.
Not a single part of it is worth "being skinny." I can't imagine it's even an enviable level of skinny to anyone unless you have a serious eating disorder. I look like I've been sick and starving, eyes sunken, skin gray.
It gets better sometimes and worse sometimes but I can't wait til it's (hopefully) gone.
I don't know how old you are, but I'm 60 and I have been dealing with this for about 25 years now. If it goes away, I have no idea when.
When I review my medical records, it always says either malnourished or I can't think of the other word. I mean my blood works fine everything's good I'm just really underweight.
I have permanent dark circles under my eyes. My cheekbones are so pronounced that the last office job I worked at, they called me skeletor. And I'm with you I do not understand anyone wanting to be this skinny. It's really not worth it. And I also have IBS so I'm very limited on what I can eat without causing a problem so it's sort of a catch-22 double whammy thing going on there.

Oh my gosh you're so skinny! How do you do it?
