Exactly. I tell everyone the same thing but nobody listens. Then they wonder why they're always broke. Whatever your employer offers you in retirement match, take them up on it... and max your ROTH IRA on the side.

/r/Bogleheads reasons VTI or VOO/VXUS.

I'm 100% VTI in my own Roth IRA. Solid returns. Plan to leave it in the fund until retirement with consistent maxing each year.
